Bully Sticks Natural Beef Dog Chews 6 Inch 8 count Made in the USA by Hill Country Pets

I was displeased with other brands as it seemed their sticks kept getting thinner and thinner, and when they sell by the count and not by weight you feel like you are getting the short end of the bully stick. Not to mention I was a little uneasy when they source their product from various countries around the world...After looking at a ton of different brands I decided to try the Hill Country Pets sticks. The company is located in Dripping Springs, TX but more importantly they claim their product comes from American Beef (not imported halfway across the world)!When I went to the company's website I was happy to see they have a 15% off coupon on Amazon if you sign up for their newsletter. Woohoo!I ordered two packages, both had 8 sticks (as labeled), and they were all a good thickness... A couple were a little thin, but a couple were extra thick so it balanced out. NONE of those dinky toothpicks like some other brands!When you open the package the first thing you will notice is these are not "odor free"... I've never come across a bully stick that was. However the odor is not *that* strong initially. If your dog doesn't chew on it right away the odor will usually dissipate within a day.My dog is finicky about treats. Sometimes with bully sticks he will move them around the house for days before deciding to chew on it (often putting them in places he shouldn't, like behind a couch cushion!). Or he will just chew a little at a time. With the Hill Country Pets brand, he started chewing on it shortly after I gave it to him and he finished the whole stick! So if he's happy, I'm happy. :)I can't wait to see what other products this company comes out with. As long as they keep their quality up and source from USA I will be more than happy to give anything a try for my dog.

UPDATE: I keep meaning to update this post so here goes. The first time we tried these they were absolutely great but that soon after that changed and we no longer use these bullies. The 2nd time I bought these the inside looked hollowish and chalky/dusty with what looked like warts all over them. All together they looked disgusting. There was NO WAY I'd give my babies these. It's hard to find a company that sticks to its values. Ive been using Sancho and Lolas USA Bullies for over a year now and although they have gotten a little greedy with the quantity the quality is always great and CONSISTENT! Unlike these from Hill Country Pets. Sorry I really wanted to like these but if they couldnt keep their quality control consistent in the beginning who knows what they are like now.OLD REVIEW:My little girl Molly (chihuahua and paillon) loved these bully sticks and they were a good price too. Not to mention made in the USA the only place we buy our bully sticks from. I didn't notice too bad of a smell either which was nice and a lot less gas than some bullys we have tried in the past.

Well, all I can say is my Husky and my German Shepherd absolutely LOVE these bully sticks! I wish they lasted longer, but the way my guys chew through things, they'd have to be made of cement to last longer. Obviously they taste wonderful because my dogs do not put them down once I give them one. They stay with it until it's gone! I didn't notice any kind of odor from them when the dogs were eating them, and I didn't find any residue on the floor....just little crumbs from my Husky crushing them with her mighty jaws! Great product, Very Happy Dogs!!

Dog gives them 5 Stars. Mom gives them 3 stars. I cannot give this item 5 stars, although my Papillon dog would. These are perfect size for the 11 lbs chewing machine I call my dog. We've had a hard time finding chews that he does not just gobble up or get sick on. He's had a lot of dental problems in his adult years, with many cleanings and having to have teeth pulled. The vet recommended a classic raw hide chew and then even some more expensive, more digestible chews. However, he would eat up the more digestible ones in a few minutes. True raw hide can make him bloated and I have a hard time finding them 'made in USA'. Even in his old age (10 years old) , with teeth missing, he loves a good chew after dinner. These bully sticks are just right. So far no stomach effects either. I hope they are good for his teeth. He has been been chewing the same stick for 3 days, until it was a small enough nub that I felt it was a choking hazard. However, the are the STINKIEST sticks ever! I grew up on a small farm and these smell like they came out of the manure pile?! I can't even sit next to the dog when he has one. I keep the small sack out in the garage in hopes that the smell will wear off. I appreciate that they say they are "Made in USA". I purchased a similar, though much, much larger item ( I THINK from the same manufacture) that is a braided and similar texture. It did NOT smell at all, but it is much to long for my little dog, at least until he got it gnawed down a bit. I'd buy them again, if they can figure out how to make them less stinky, and still made in the USA.

These bully sticks are the perfect size for my pup! She's a 22 pound Beagle/Rat Terrier and she LOVES bully sticks, as most dogs do! These sticks are a great size for her, they keep her energetic lil' self occupied for about an hour (or shorter depending on the thickness), so I love them too! I appreciate knowing exactly how the meat is sourced for these sticks and that I'm giving my dog something pure. I also enjoy that each stick is of random thickness, so somedays Cali (my pup) will get a thicker one if she's being extra good hehe! :)
