Over the past year, I ran into the problem of my Macbook Air not charging. Switching USB ports helped a little, but the other port soon ran into the same problem. Over time, I would get to the point where the battery was either not charging, or get the powered by the AC adapter. One day, it just stopped charging no matter what I did. After checking to make sure it wasn't the outlet, nor the USB cable, I finally went to Perplexity and asked what could be the problem. One of the possible causes it came back with was a bad port, and then it linked to a youtube video. This video explained the problem, and showed how to fix it myself. The replacement part was cheap. I came here on Amazon to look for the part, and sure enough, here it is, and not only that, but it was at an under $10 price. I quickly ordered it, thinking if it didn't work, at least I didn't spend a lot of money. Replacing the part was easy - just watch the YouTube video. You will need the right tools though, especially to take off the rear cover of the MacBook Air (you use a 1.2 mm Pentalobe screwdriver, also available on Amazon). To remove the part inside the computer, you will need a separate T2 and T3 torx head screwdriver (I had those already). If you didn't have the tools, expect to spend another $15. So for a total of approximately $25 (assuming you don't have the tools), you can make this fix yourself that Apple will charge you $300 to $400 for. I did the repair in under 15 minutes, making sure to take my time and just being extra careful. It was a perfect fit and drop in replacement for the original part. After doing everything, I plugged the cable in, and power up the MacBook. Lo and behold, it powered up (you need to plug in the cable initially, even if the battery is at 100% to power it up the first time). What's more, I got the battery charging icon on both ports. So everything now is back to normal. If this happens again, I will come here and buy another one of these ports!

One of my ports stopped working completely. Found a replacement walkthrough video on YouTube and it was a quick and easy fix. Let’s hope it lasts.

This worked very well. It took a little fussing to get it lined up so the ribbon cable bent into shape correctly and the end clicked into the circuit board connector. The USB-C jacks worked perfectly but were a little tight for the first few plug-ins.

It was very easy to install, I ordered this one because the first one I got was a different brand and it wouldn’t click into place, this one was a breeze. It’s only not 5 stars because my laptop charges slowly, but definitely works for the price I had never done anything like that to my computer so definitely beginner friendly

This little thing save my Mac Book. For a fraction of the price it would've cost me if I took it to a shop. I watched a video on YouTube to help me along the fix and it worked. Both ports charge and work beautifully. Great value. Great little part.

Spilled a tiny bit of water on my desk and somehow a drop got onto the charging cable, frying one of the USB-C ports and making the other one only work about 50% of the time. Apple diagnostics came back with a PPP001 error message, telling me the power port was bad. After some Googling, I saw that the USB-C board is fairly easy to replace (iFixit has great instructions). This USB-C board and a tool kit cost $12 each, so I figured it was worth a shot. 15 minute process to crack open my Macbook Air, take out the old USB-C board and replace it with this one, and put everything back together. Both USB-C ports work fine now and according to Coconut Battery are charging the laptop at normal rates. Can't speak to the longevity of this USB-C board, but it's not really a wear item so if it works now it'll probably work for as long as the rest of this laptop does. If it burns out randomly or fails somehow, I'll update this review accordingly.

I received the board and only 1 port worked for charging and the other port didn’t work for data transfer. I’ve bought this board maybe 2-3 times now but I’ve never had this happen. I couldn’t return it because of the hassle Amazon makes it. I had to leave the previous board installed until I grab another.

The product came faulty. Not sure what the direct issue would be besides the fact that is not working and we troubleshot all possible issues (my partner works in IT and previously worked at apple so he knows what hes doing, it is not a user error)

Works great on my MacBook Air 2018. Fitting it in by myself was also pretty easy. And my charger fits nice and snug, my charging port feels tight and brand new!
