Hard-wearing and safe to use
I bought these because the spiral spring Yaktrax quickly broke while walking on icy, rough ground. These snow chains Yaktrax are much heavier duty and can handle icy pavements and uneven, rough paths.Recommended as an everyday winter solution - I also use spikes for severe hikes.,

Good grip on icy pavements etc
I go walking a lot in the fells and take a pair of these if it’s looking borderline icy. Anything more and I’ll take my spiky grippers though. These, however, are excellent for flatter walks around town or countryside. They pack small and offer a decent grip. They also fit really well on my boots. Going in & out of shops should be OK so long as the shop has carpets. Wooden floors are a bit lethal so best take them off for those surfaces.Recommend you was and dry after use to avoid them rusting. I had a previous pair which didn’t get washed and were quite rusty. Although they did last several years.Worth the investment and keep a pair in the car for emergencies even.

They work really well
Good fit, they stay on in all types of snow and terrain, and the rubber band is very robust. If the snow is wet ( and deep) and you are walking on rural paths the snow may ball up underfoot. This is quite normal, and you should just tap the side of your boot or shoe with your walking stick, or stamp your feet to loosen snow. Best suited to dryer snow and really hard frozen snow. But remember they are not mountaineering crampons - so above 600 metres or so you will likely need something a bit more specialised -- with 12 points ( spikes)

Confusing sizing - extremely difficult to fit
I ordered Medium Size for size 39 walking boots. The box in the picture on Amazon states that Medium suits Women's EU size 38-40.5. What was delivered was marked as medium but the box says that medium suits EU size 41/43??. So now I come to fit them to the boots. The rubber gaiter is incredibly tight and very difficult to fit (on a boot that's smaller than the size they claim to fit). After a great deal of effort I got the gaiter on, but then find the chains are still hanging loose underneath. If I pull the rubber gaiter even further up (more struggling) then I can just get the chains tight. It seems like the giater is too small whilst the chains are too long. Why don't Yaktrax also quote the dimensions of the sole the Yaktrax fit, as quoting the internal EU foot sizing bears little resemblance to the outside dimensions of a shoe or boot to which the Yaktrax have to fit?

Make walking on ice no problem
I much prefer them to the normal Yaktrak onesI sometimes wear them all day when frosty, in a concrete yard and I can go out and into carpeted office with no problems
