We Both Read-Jack and the Beanstalk (Pb) (We Both Read - Level 1-2 (Quality))

This is a classic my husband read growing up, I had to get it for him. It's a great book, cute!

I want to paint my cane with acrylics depicting my idea of Jack climbing on the beanstalk. The beanstalk will wrap around and around the cane. If I am going to have to use a cane, I am determined to make it cute. This getting old can be a real pain, but doing things like this can put it in a new light. As for reading.....the words on the left page are written for the parent to read, and the ones on the right are in words that the young child can read. This is a wonderful concept, and I recommend it highly.

My daughter is 4 1/2 and loves reading but gets scared of new books; this series helps allay her fears by alternating reading with me (or another adult). She loves the story and pictures and I love that her reading skills are improving.

My grandchildren love this book. My 7 year old reads to the younger ones. The pictures are wonderful, tell the story all by themselves. GREAT BOOK.

Beautifully illustrated and written - the story is true to the fairy tales original plot. I especially like the fact that children can enjoy and participate in this book at their own level. My almost 4 year old boy is an early reader -- he can phonetically pronounce more than half the words on the children's pages, and adds new words each time we read it. His twin sister is just starting to sound out words, but watches with interest as I read the children's pages to her and point to each word as I say it. We're planning to give a copy of this book in the "goody bag" to each child at their 4 year old birthday party next month!

Be aware that the pictures are disturbing for young children. The giant reminds my husband of Sloth from the Goonies. This was supposed to be for my 5 year old son and I am returning it because I know it will give him nightmares.
