BabyZoo MoMo Monkey Sleep Trainer Clock - Pink

After reading through all the reviews, I wasn't sure about this product. I came back to the reviews several times and kept thinking to myself that most of the complaints about this clock I could probably handle. I am so happy that I decided to buy this clock. My daughter (2 years old) now knows that she is not to leave her room until Momo is awake (if she wakes up before Momo, then she has two options: read a book or go back to sleep). My daughter has also requested that Momo goes to sleep with her at nap time too. This is not a problem for us because I can see her on our video monitor and know that it's time to go into her room and "wake" Momo up. I just bought the elephant, Mumbo, for my son! As for the complaints of others: ~The clock does tick and you can hear it. It is not overly loud; it sounds like a ticking clock. My daughter has never had a problem with this. ~His eyes make a noise when they open, but again, it isn't overly loud. It is a mechanical monkey, so some noise isn't unexpected. ~The clock is in military time. This doesn't bother me, since I'm not trying to teach my 2 year old to tell time...I just want her to stay in bed until 7. If we are still using this clock when it's time to teach this concept, then we may have a lesson on military time. ~It was very easy to operate. Not sure what that complaint in other reviews was about. Push the button, eyes close. Push the same button, eyes open (which I don't do often, since they usually get to open on their own). I colored the button that controls the eyes with a black sharpie so others new how to set the clock. My daughter is even allowed to put Momo to sleep, but only when a parent gives her permission. ~My daughter has never opened Momo on her own. I'm not sure if she knows how (she may, she is fairly intelligent), but the rule has always been that Mommy or Daddy are the only ones that can touch Momo. I can't remember any other complaints, but again, I LOVE this clock. It helped our daughter learn to go back to sleep! We even pack him for sleepovers at the grandparents' houses or when we go on trips!

Great idea with the monkey there that opens his eyes when the alarm goes off. Worked for about a week with my 3 year old, "don't get up until the monkey does" and he'd eventually fall asleep for his nap. That's why it gets 2 stars and not 1. Some reasons why I would NOT RECOMMEND buying this to others and REGRET BUYING it: 1. Battery powered. With the lights and sound the batteries wear down. I believe this is also the reason for problems #2 and #3: 2. Alarm sound is too soft and too short. Unless the clock is sitting right next to my son's head, he sleeps right through the alarm. 3. There's no backlight unless you push a button. Then it lights up like a Christmas tree, for about 20-30 sec. If it's semi-dark in the room and the clock is too far away to reach and/or you can't find the light button you are out of luck - no way to see the clock. 4. The digital clock is a good idea because I thought my son could use it to help him figure out how to tell time with the analog clock. Two problems. One is that it's so small it's hard to read even in good light. Two is that it's 24-hour time! Ok if you're not in the US I guess, but what's the point when the analog clock says 8 o'clock and the digital one says 20:00??? As if learning an analog clock wasn't hard enough, now try explaining that to a 3 year old. For all these reasons the clock is now simply a $30 decoration sitting on his shelf and I bought him a REAL clock for telling time.

I was desperate... my 2 years old was waking up at 5am (sometime before) every single day! I thought that the eyes open/eyes close concept was easy to understand so I bought it... I could not believe I paid $40 plus for an alarm clock when you can get them for a dollar at the dollar store (believe me it is not made of gold). It was very easy to set up. You can turn off the jungle sound (although the eyes opening sound is loud enough to wake up anybody). My son didn't like it! He was scare of it because of the noise it makes when the eyes open and close. I returned it and started to look for one with the light concept but it was hard because my son doesn't know his colors very well yet. The price of all the other clocks were very high as well. So here is my solution: plug-in timer ($3.97 at walmart) lightning McQueen night light ($1 at dollar tree) TOTAL = $5 I set the time to be ON at 7pm (his bedtime) and turn OFF and 6am (the desired wake up time). When the light is on it mean sleeping time, when the light turn off it's day time (wake up time). I have a 2nd nightlight with sensor so his room is not all dark when the McQueen light turn off. Don't be desperate, be money smart!!!

This is a really silly and poorly designed product. The backlight does not stay on so if your child wakes up before Momo's eyes are open there's no way she can tell. It also doesn't always work - we found Momo sleeping-in on many mornings. It completely broke after a few days and now sits in the back of a closet with it's eyes half-way closed...really creepy (should just throw it away).

We have the green/yellow older version (a few years old) and loved that, so we purchased this for my new baby daughter. It is a great product - both a digital and analog clock for learning time (later down the road) and my 2 1/2 year old has had it since he was little and "Momo" closes his eyes and goes to sleep every night. It is really effective, when he wakes up too early, we go into his room and say that Momo isn't up yet. Now that he is older, he tells us in the morning that Momo is up! You can choose to have noise when Momo wakes up (some jungle noises/beat) or just silence. One positive with the new version is that you can turn the alarm on and off with the button on the top instead of around the back.
