My family were in the jewelry business for forty years and were master ringmakers at the Danecraft and Dieges & Clust companies in Providence, RI. I saw, handled and used many such mandrels over the years working in our related family businesses. The mandrel I received was in every way comparable if not identical to those extreme high quality, professional devices. It appears to be chromium plated over steel. And that is SOLID steel, not hollow. Each end has a 1/4 inch threaded hole from where the product was created on a lathe, not molded. It must weigh a good couple of pounds. The barrel is absolutely round. That is, it does NOT have a flat plane running down the length as some do. The markings are accurate and are etched into the surface, not painted on, so they will never wear off. There is no doubt in my mind that this mandrel will find use in my home and business for many years to come and for generations after. If you are looking for a professional jeweler quality ring sizing mandrel, you cannot go wrong with this one.

This is for: Solid Stainless Steel Ring Sizing Mandrel Sizes 1-16 Ungrooved and Marked. I purchased because i have a habit of malforming my wedding band. Also my wife likes making custom jewelry, so she can use it in her crafting. I used it to re-round my ring and it worked perfect. Based on the known size of my ring, the sizing chart seems to be perfect. It also sized my wife's rings to their known size. It is heavy and seems very solid. The sizing marking are etched into the mandrel, but are shallow enough to not affect anything. Overall I love it. Disclaimer: I am not a jeweler.

Bought from Amazon Warehouse because it was considerably cheaper used. Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised to find this mandrel was really solid and well made. Easy to size rings and reshape bent rings. Used with epoxy clay to size the bands for handmade rings.**Update - the other reviews mentioning sizing being off are correct. This mandrel is about 1/4 size off. I had a custom ring made to size 6.25 and this mandrel shows size 6.It's very heavy and well made if you are using it for reshaping rings but just keep in mind that you won't get accurate sizing, or just size up by 1/4 of what size says. Not ideal.

Purchased for my husband, he likes to make things and his current hobby is making rings. Would purchase again. Quality is good.

I just got this ring mandrel today-shipping was so fast, and it's perfect. No grooves to catch my rings as I hammer them, easy to read size marks, and solid, heavy stainless steel that can take a beating. I know because I've just finished hammering a big batch of stacking rings that were sitting around because I gave up trying to use my old light duty one with grooves that didn't like me working on it.

I was very pleased to find this product on a slight sale and even more surprised when I found out the weight of the item! It's been extremely helpful for sizing and creating. I would appreciate if it had deeper grooves for my wire to catch on but that's not the products exact purpose anyways.
