Replaced our worn out NightOwl camera!
Bought this to replace a NightOwl camera that went out. It was a quick plug and play. Just removed my old camera and swapped this out. My husband says the video quality isn’t as crisp as the NightOwl, but I don’t notice a difference. The camera works again, and the price was decent!

Works with older analog 1080p AHD night owl systems
I have to say, this is a huge improvement over my six-year-old Night Owl cameras, and I had no issues with the Night Owl system. These cameras cost half as much as Night Owl replacements would have. Daytime view is noticeably brighter and far more colorful. The nighttime mode offers significantly better clarity and range—my old camera barely reached the middle of the yard, if at all. The camera at the middle bottom is the one I just bought, while the driveway camera on the right is a couple of years old. Both are much better than the Night Owl cameras, which had a sepia-toned look as the sun went down. Time will tell if they have longevity in Dallas weather.

The best camera!
While the Arlo Essential 2K Outdoor Security Camera (2nd Generation) has many strong points, there are some areas that could be improved: 1. **Subscription Dependency**: Many of the advanced features, such as cloud storage, advanced object detection, and activity zones, require a subscription to Arlo Secure. Without this subscription, the camera's functionality is limited. 2. **Battery Life**: Some users have reported that the battery life does not always meet the advertised duration, especially in high-traffic areas where the camera is triggered frequently. This necessitates more frequent recharging. 3. **Latency Issues**: There can be a slight delay between motion detection and notification delivery, which might be critical in real-time security situations. 4. **Limited Free Storage**: The camera offers limited free cloud storage, and without the subscription, users might find themselves running out of space quickly, especially with high-resolution 2K footage. 5. **App Performance**: Some users have experienced issues with the Arlo app, including crashes and slow loading times, which can be frustrating when trying to access live feeds or recordings. 6. **Spotlight Performance**: The integrated spotlight, while useful, may not be as bright or as effective in larger or very dark areas, potentially limiting its deterrent effect. 7. **Local Storage Requirements**: To use local storage, you need to purchase an additional Arlo SmartHub or base station, which adds to the overall cost if you prefer not to rely on cloud storage. 8. **Audio Quality**: The two-way audio quality can sometimes be subpar, with reports of lag and echo, which may affect communication clarity. 9. **Weather Durability**: While weather-resistant, the camera may still face issues in extreme weather conditions, which could impact its longevity and performance. 10. **Motion Detection Sensitivity**: The motion detection can sometimes be overly sensitive or not sensitive enough, leading to false alerts or missed events, which can be inconvenient and affect the reliability of the security system. These points highlight some potential drawbacks and areas for improvement, which are important to consider when evaluating the Arlo Essential 2K Outdoor Security Camera (2nd Generation) for your home security needs.

Great camera
Great view, the only problem I had when installing was the Allen type screws, they were hard for me to to use as I was installing the camera above my head on 5he corner of my house. Definitely will but again.

Nice price with a great picture quality
They have a nice clear picture but sometimes the night vision is sketchy. I have to restart my DVR to clear up the fuzzy picture.
