Very good gadget
I needed to replace my out-of-date gadget but didnt fancy paying a cut price for the much-promoted Road Angel Pure, simply because I did not want to pay for an expensive updating service. I am very pleased with it. It is accurate, telling me I'm over the speed limit when I reach 70mph exactly. (The best way to stop it annoying me on motorways is to set my cruise control to 69mph). It spots cameras pretty well, and warns me of lower speed limits well in advance. Very pleased.

Very bad product, very expensive and doesn't deliver
So many beeps and inaccurate warnings, wrong speed limits reported too. I have submitted several speed limit camera updates thinking that they will fix their mistakes, but my updates has never been published, I have updated the device 3 times over the past year and all was in vain. Furthermore what's the point of having a device that is not updated over air, even if you have to update it manually, what's the point of this device if it keeps reporting the wrong speed limits on a dual carriage way and I am not even talking about a side road in london. trust me do not bother with this.

Like having my mother in law in the backseat of the car
I should say from the offset that my mother in law was a lovely woman. But she was a terrible passenger - you never fully appreciated how many potential obstacles there were out there on the road... until she had pointed them out. So, what's the point of a laser detector that tells you that a layby, bridge, or bush is a speed trap hangout when there is nothing doing? I know what you'll say, it is useful. I agree, but to have the mother in law tell you what the limit is, the speed you are travelling and then repeat the information again? Put simply, it is overkill. I bought this to replace my redundant Snooper (I absolutely refuse to by the device sold by the company that has taken them over on principle - that I paid for updates and they're not delivering them). The Snooper point is relevant because I tried the new device out alongside the old one. The alerts were pretty much the same. The one problem I have is that as annoying as the bleeping (fewer commands but heck of a lot more bleeping) Snooper could be by the end of the journey I was misty eyed about bleeps over commands. Update. I fear that this device does not pick up speed cameras from signal - it only gives GPS positioned alerts based on the database. I say that after driving past a parked up camera van on the Oxford road. Not a peep out of the device. Luckily I spotted it in time to slow down. So far I have little evidence to suggest it is any better than the free smartphone option.

It could be better with swifter updates to mobile safety cameras
I liked the simplicity of the unit i also liked the build quality. It also detects the fixed cameras well. However, it is let down by the inability to get mobile safety camera locations added to the software. It does give you the opportunity to report them from their site, in fact it even welcomes your reporting them. However, my own personal experience is that after 4 weeks and 3 sets of updates my suggested locations have not been added to the software. Also I joined the chat forum to discuss the unit and again 4 weeks later my comment has not been added to the forum, in fact there has been no comments added for 8 months. I am wondering if it has been abandoned? After 5 months i contacted Drive Smart by email. they were very apologetic and said that they would get in touch with the manufacturer to ensure updates were added. A few more weeks and 3 more updates and some updates have been added so i am hopeful for future updates. It is still a good reliable unit that operates well in most situations,

Absolutely amazing im delighted well worth the money
Easy to use just plug and play, gives good warnings of speed trap areas, gives warnings of speed cameras 600 meters out and counts down in meters if the camera is active. Also verbally and visually tells you the speed of the road and your current speed. And picks up mobile speed traps 400 - 600 meters out depending on terrain. Im delighted with this. Its absolutely worth the money.

Reserve judgement
Can't fault the build quality, however, having past a couple of known mobile camera sites this detector has not uttered a peep! The only sounds I've heard from it is the start up sounds 'Drivesmart' & 'gps lock'. Next week I'm passing a red light camera on my journey, if it doesn't alert me then this item will be returned. Hence only 3 stars. Update : the item was returned for a full refund.

So far can confirm all claims in the technical description.
I got the device only 2 weeks and with lock down have not had time to test it all out. It certainly alarms you well before every fixed camera and known locations of mobile camera spots even when not in use. I had one alarm about a mobile camera on the motorway but was not able to see an unmarked car so. Certainly feel much more relaxed when driving.
