I was recently inducted into the cult of sourdough thanks to a co-worker. I've been making bread for years, but hadn't jumped into sourdough out of FEAR! Anyways, once she gave me some well-fed starter and instructions, I made my first loaf. I quickly realized I needed something other than a spatula or a table knife to really mix in the flour/water during feedings. Those work, but it was a little clunky. My sour dough mentor suggested I get a "spurtle" and here we are! This one works great - it's easy to clean, easy to get a good mix in my tulip jar, and I like the color! It was worth it - now I have to add a banneton and other cult implements so I can level up!

The media could not be loaded. I couldn’t have guessed how many uses I would find for these utensils. I love the long spurtle for stirring soup in my Staub 5 qt deep Dutch oven. The spurtle allows you to stir the bottom while also stirring the sides at the same time. Would have liked more color options (like plain black), but I chose the pastel purple, and I’m happy with it. These tools are quality material —they don’t melt while using in hot pans, but I also haven’t just let them sit in the pan when I’m not using them to stir or move food around. I like that they have a sturdiness to them—they’re not flimsy at all, and I appreciate how gentle they are on my Le Creuset pieces. Mine haven’t been stained in the least.

Too soon to talk about durability. So far it works fine.

I can't say enough about these spatulas. These are my all-time favorites; I even give them as gifts. I love the red color because if you are cooking red sauce, it doesn't stain. There is a larger set with additional utensils that I've bought, too.

I have had spurtles in the past. I always had ways to use these. They were part of a basket of goodies for a new home owner.
