Genuine Asko Washer Lid Lock Switch 3619046410
J**N
Supposed to be for Asko model but it wasn’t; we had to blend new and old to get it to work
UPDATE: I added a star. I ordered another lock switch just to have one on hand as this is the part most likely to fail. Otherwise, I think my washer is just going to keep on plugging away with regular preventive maintenance - it was certainly built to last. So, back got the lock switch. This time, the switch that arrived is the right one (the white one pictured in the product photos). The beige and black switch is definitely not for the front loading Asko. If you look at the product name, it says “Washer Lid Lock Switch” which might mean a lock switch for a top loader? But the part number in the name is the part number for a door lock switch for a front loading Asko. Hmmm. Anyway, this second one is the correct one and we will squirrel it away against future need. If you are ordering this part, be sure to open it as soon as it comes (my husband did not do that for the first one) to make sure you have the white switch assembly. Or, if you’re comfortable with mechanical stuff, you can always switch out the locking hook on the beige part with your old locking hook as the mechanisms are the same. It’s just the locking hooks that are different sizes. So, 3 stars now - great part when you actually get the right one, but still a bit too much uncertainty about being sure to get the right one.PREVIOUSLY:This was supposed to be for an older Asko washer Model WL6532XXLWRH. I looked up the part number on the Asko site and then searched for that part. Amazon was the only place that had it. If you look at the thumbnails, the third one (all white part) is the correct part and is identical to the door lock assembly on our machine. That is not the part we got. When my husband tried to replace the door lock, the actual locking hook was too big and the door would not close. However, the mechanics within the plastic casing are identical, so he took the box apart, switched out the latching hook, and then put the new part into the machine. That worked and our door is closing now. This model of Asko washer is about 20 years old now and still works beautifully. However, we are running into the problem of discontinued parts. So, if you are looking for a door lock for your Asko, order it but be sure to keep the old one in case you have to modify the new part so that it will work.
