In my opinion this works better then post-process sharpening
This has really helped the contrast and clarity of image of my projector (LGPF1000u). I just want to point out that this is not a sharpening tool, but rather it is designed to bring out the detail in an image by increasing the contrast of the image. In my opinion this works better then post-process sharpening, since that method can lead to the image looking overly processed if turned up to high. This method looks more natural. Though I'd warn you to not turn up the darbee processing to to high as it can bring out every nook and cranny on a face on screen. The sweet spot for me has been between 60-70

Pretty much dead on arrival
I was so excited to open the package and connect my new DarbeeVision DVP5000S to my projector and be amazed. I even had all my family in the room for a movie night. But no, just disappointment. Brand new and stuck at "100% Darbee" showing on the lower-right corner of the screen, with the remote control not changing anything, my last hope was the included batteries that could have been dead. I grabbed two new batteries and try again. Still dead! I repacked the whole think and put it back in the UPS package, ready to be returned. Despite the incident, we tried to still watch a movie after all. A comedy... but no one laughed. Thank you DarbeeVision!

I'm a fan!
Absolutely love it! I did a lot of research and corresponded with the company before choosing this model, and I couldn't be happier. It makes an obvious improvement in the clarity of my picture from multiple sources, as I have it wired between my A/V Receiver output and the television. I did need a minimum two meter cable on each end to avoid the problems some other reviewers have described.Just for fun, I used the two video outputs on my Oppo BDP-93 to run directly into the HDTV and the other as described above. No contest: For most discs, the Darbee won hands down for color and clarity. On the few other discs, the Darbee remote let me change the settings on the fly from my couch until the signal looked at least as good as the native connection directly to the disc player.

It really does what they claim!
Took the chance on a Darbee DVP-5000s for my Optoma GT1080 projector which I always considered a bit soft picture quality wise. Call me impressed! I was skeptical of all the claims made, but it visibly improves sharpness, color pop and apparent contrast without adding any really noticeable video processing artifacts (which is the whole trick of it I suppose). Not sure it would make as big a difference on a good quality LCD/plasma HDTV, but on a big projector picture the improvement is easily seen considering the individual pixels are relatively large. I got it because I wasn't totally happy with the sharpness/focus of the image from my GT1080. That's its primary benefit. It doesn't change/improve color calibration. Things appear more "contrasty" because it improves/better defines the edges of objects. Still experimenting, but running it at 80% seems to do the trick for me. Four stars because it is a relatively expensive little box, but at least this new version appears to be better made (nicer housing at least) and includes a remote that the previous versions did not have.

Fantastic Picture!!!!
Wow!!! I bought this in December of 2019, and I got to say it really has improved the picture on my Epson 1040 1080p projector. I have itching for a 4k projector of recent, but the truly decent ones run around $1500 or more. But my problem was my projector only has 500hrs on the bulb and still looks great, and most of my movie watching is Korean movies that are either Blu-ray or DVD. Actually some of these movies come in only DVD format. also many movies are more available and cheaper in Blu-ray format, even the new Hollywood block busters. So I researched the Darbee a lot, and found now negative reviews, only on the old price of $250. Now it sells for $139 and has been such a great improvement on my 1080p projector. This box really brings out all the detail in every picture without looking over saturated. So for now I am holding off on 4k, as 1, it's expensive, and 2- 4k is mostly the popular Hollywood mainstream movies, which I can take it or leave it. So I have been nothing but impressed with this box in 2019, as it really makes movies POP!!! 5 star review from a guy who bought it with his own movie. I knew with Amazon there was no risk, if I didn't like it I could have sent it back, even my wife says, this is definitely a keeper! You will not regret this purchase!

Wouldn't work with HDMI switch, not-great sharpening artifacts.
•• In short-Did not work with our HDMI Switch, and I found the image processing obtrusive.•• In long-It took days of careful fault-tree analysis, but in the long run I could not get this to work if connected to the output of a new Kinivo K340 3-Port 4K HDMI Switch. It would only process a single HDMI feed going -into- the switch. This meant that two out of three of our signal sources couldn't be Darbee processed: a 66% reduction in value. (Problems in 2- and 3-input configurations included frequent audio muting and a magenta-colored image: it would take a lot of switching devices off and on to clear the problem.)The Kinivo switch works 100% if the Darbee is not in the chain. Also, from the perspective of someone who's spent years using photo editing software, I couldn't find a setting that improved detail without introducing standard-issue sharpening artifacts*. If your eye is attuned to see sharpening distortions as a quality to avoid, it's hard to find the effects of sharpening desirable.*By "standard-issue", I mean artifacts that come from base-level image sharpening, not the more sophisticated processes available in, say, Photoshop (Smart Sharpen, Unsharp Mask).I really wanted the Darbee to work, but in the long run it just wasn't worth the money, given the compromises required.
