the red color looks better in person than in the picture online.
I wanted an updated coat for my son who just turned 7 for these days of late winter and early spring when he doesn't need his heavier winter coat. He is 48" tall and I ordered him his current size - size 8. The fit is good. I think the quality matches the price and it meets our needs. I was worried about the red color being too bright or too orange, but it's okay...better than in the description picture. So I am attaching a few pics.

Good value for mildly cold temperatures
For the price, this is a great jacket for Southern California winters. It's lightweight and folds easily. It fits into the accompanying carry bag for compact storage. The fit guide is very accurate. The zipper seems sturdy with a metal pull. The cuffs are elasticized. The elastic doesn't feel very sturdy, but the slight cinching will help to preserve warmth, especially with gloves. It is unlined. With a fleece under layer and maybe a thermal layer close to the skin, I think this jacket on top would keep my kid warm in temperatures as low as 25 degrees, which is as low as he's ever going to experience.

Great coat, fits TTS, but a bad odor
Bought the XS in navy for my 3.5 y/o son who is just getting into size 4T with brands like Carters, Gap, Cat & Jack. We live in Minnesota so this weight is perfect for fall and spring when temps range high 30s-50s. In years past I’ve gone with a pricier Columbia coat that’s the same weight but decided to give this Amazon version a try this year because it had the same features at a better price point. Fit was a bit big but not sloppy looking at all. This should fit my son this spring and fall. Navy color is bright as pictured. The only downside is the smell - yuck! Very potent chemical smell when removed from the box.

Check your size.
My son is a size 5. He just out grew his 4T clothes in the past couple months. I ordered a small for this jacket; as I like to have two winter coats and this one would be the lighter of the two. I thought it would fit well but it is too big. I just looked back and a small is actually a 6. I would rather it be a bit larger than smaller so I am ok with it as kids grow fast, but a small would fit an average 6 year old in size quite well. The jacket is very light weight. The hood is nice because it comes all the way to the front and it can fit a hat under it and it stays on easily. I hope it is warm since we do live in MN, but like I said this is an extra winter jacket and for cold weather he has a ski 2 layer ski jacket.

Fine for SoCal Winters but Order much larger than you think you need
The coat is plenty warm for cool weather but would need layers for anything really cold. It works fine for here in Southern California and will protect my kid from the worst of the winter weather here, but that's nothing more than Fall/Spring and maybe early Winter anywhere else. However, this coat runs TINY. My son is 51.5" tall and weighs 62 lbs. He is just barely wearing a size 8 in most clothing. I looked at the sizing chart on this and a medium (8) gave him almost no room to grow, so I ordered the large (10). Good thing I did. The large BARELY fits him. The shoulder seams are right on his shoulder and the length is perfectly fit to him. It has enough room for a sweatshirt underneath, but not much more, so it's not huge around on him either and he's skinny. Only the arm length is slightly long on him (he has short arms, so that is normal for him); the sleeves come down to about mid-hand.For the price, it's not a bad deal, just realize that you have to order a much larger size than you think you will need. 3.5 stars

This was a very nice looking jacket
This was a very nice looking jacket. Very well made. However the jacket runs small. I have a 11 year old who is about 4'9" tall and skinny. The body fit however the arms short. So I purchased the M2C Mens Hooded Lightweight Windproof Puffer Duck...in small men...fit a little big.

Perfect for tall and slim kids
My son is 7, tall and skinny. Height - 130 cm (51.2 inches), weighs - 26 kilos (57 pound).I ordered size L and it's perfect. it is roomy enough for hoodie underneath, but not too big. It's light weight, very comfortable, so it doesn't interrupt him playing.Looks great and not childish - so my son is very happy with it.I h Amazon Essentials Boys' Lightweight Water-Resistant Packable Hooded Puffer Jacket, Black Caviar, Large ighly recommend.

I like the jacket
I like the jacket. It's more lightweight than I expected but it's still a good jacket - good for spring/fall. It is definitely NOT a down alternative. I would say it's good for 55F degree weather.

Fits small and isn’t warm enough to be a winter jacket
I bought a XL jacket for my 10 year old who is slightly below average in height and weight for his age. I’m not impressed with this jacket. It fits like a medium for him. It’s supposedly to be a winter jacket, but it only works as a summer jacket. The colour of the jacket is a faded black, I’m sure I’d get better quality at Walmart for half the price. I can’t believe I paid $53 for it! The funny thing is when I looked up the jacket again, it’s priced now at $47. I’ve been a prime member for over two years, but I’m coming to be disappointed with Amazon.
