Fast, simple, reliable.
I've used Transcend portable hard drives for many years - for backup and for storage of confidential data. Formatting takes less than two seconds, they're 100% reliable, easy to use and as fast as I'll ever need.

Fantastic portable hard drive.
This hard drive is fantastic if you are travelling or want a portable hard drive. It's very easy to use and is powered off your phone, tablet or laptop top.It feels rugged and with the silicone cover it feels like it would take any accidental bumps and knocks. The USB lead is quite short but it works perfectly on the go.I use this hard drive when I'm travelling to back up Jpegs photos from my Canon cameras and touch wood it has worked perfectly every time, when you connect the hard drive to your PC to transfer your files across it is fast and easy to do.

Very good hard disk drive.
Purchased to store video files for a music project. Worked well and has been a very reliable drive. Have 2 Transcend drives, a 1 TB which extends storage for our aging ps4 and this one. They've been very reliable drives and I highly recommend them to anyone needing ample external storage where speed is not the essence

Reliable and portable disk
The disk has been performing well and within expectations. I use it to storage my 4K video files and edit reading from the disk (usually with DaVinci in MacBook Pro) and it works fine. The speed (both reading and writing) could be slightly better but it usually works with no glitches or choking, just very ocassionaly it can drop a couple of frames when used intensely. It travels a lot with me and it's very easy to carry. The USB-C cable is a big plus with the MacBook Pro. Fortunately I don't have any thoughts or experience about it's resistance to shock.

A no go
I bought this hard drive a few months ago and kept it in a drawer, unpacked. I recently copied some large amounts of data (approx 100GB, with thouthands of files) on it. Top write speed achieved on USB 3.0 ports was less than 500KB/s, generally staying at under 100KB/s. I had tried with just a few tens of MB before and had over 5MB/s write speed. I bought this one because I was happy with the performance of the other smaller versions that i had (1GB and 2GB drives), but it disappointed me this time.
