This is the best light weight rain jacket available in its price range!
This jacket is fantastic! I've been rain jacket shopping for 5 months now and this is by far the perfect coat for me. I think the fabric is excellent, the style of the jacket is fashionable and it has just enough with the red pulls and the stitching to really stand out visually. Features for a jacket at this price point are very good.-high quality molding strip to shape the bill-pit zips- nice quality draw strings and zippers (though the zipper is not one of those fancy wind resistant typeon the fabric:this jacket feels lighter and the fabric has a softer quality then other 2.5L jackets. Its heavier than the OR ultralight Helium jackets, but feels lighter than REI's Ryolite jackets. Its much lighter weight then a Columbia 2.5 jacket I use for cycling in inclement weather. It may not be as durable as comparable jackets but fabric has a very comfortable upscale feel. This jacket is replacing a Mountain Hardware 2.5L jacket with a stretch fabric and this Rab has a similar feel.sizing:this jacket runs small, and has an athletic cut. I'd call it a small+ rather then a medium. Definitely the shortest torso of any mediums I've tried on.I'm 5.7ft and I've found that most mediums from other comparable MFG's are longer in the arms and torso than this jacket. At 170 lbs, most of the small jackets I tried on that had an athletic cut were to tight for me, especially with an insulating layer on below the jacket.. Thankfully Rab has a shorter medium then most and its absolutely perfect for a shorter, stocky man (looking for a fitted rain shell).

Amazing rain jacket!!
This jacket is truly amazing! I searched for months for a rain jacket to take on hikes with me. This jacket ticks all the boxes. I love the style and fit. I am 6.1 and weigh about 195 pounds and I'm an athletic build and a large fits me perfectly. With a little room wear a jersey underneath comfortably. The adjustable metal liner in the hood is such a good touch. The metal used to make this jacket is really nice and comfy and it isn't too noisy like other rain jackets. I am very happy with this jacket it surpassed all my expectations. If you are searching for the perfect hiking jacket like I was then honestly just get it. I don't think you will find anything better.

Good fit and finish. Zipper on wrong side.
A nice lightweight jacket. I wouldn't call it ultralight at 12.45 ounces for the Men's medium, but lighter weight than most options. I like the shape of the hood - a bit of a prow over the forehead which is helpful and a some coverage (when fully zipped up of my chin) but with enough volume for my chin and forehead - something lots of hoods are tight on.Note that, on mine, the zipper pull was on the left side, as it would be in women's jacket. I can deal, but I've worked in a backpacking shop and I know that while most women have no trouble switching back and forth between "women's" and "uni-sex (=mens)" because they used both a lot, many men struggle with the zipper on the other side - it's not where they'll be expecting it. Maybe that's why this one, in this color, was only $39, but nothing in the listing suggested it was a second or blem. And it's definitely a Men's Medium. It fits me at 5'11.5" / 180 cm and 190 pounds / 85 kg without the sleeves being too short - something I struggle to find in many men's mediums and would never be the case in any women's cut. And by "fits" I mean I can wear a t-shirt plus a modest warm layer under it. I couldn't fit thick warm layers under it, but I'm at the upper end in height and weight for men's medium, so it does seem true to size.Check all the colors, prices varied considerably between some different colors when I selected mine.

Great lightwieght windproof and shower proof jacket
Exactly what I expected. I bought this as a light breathable windproof and shower proof jacket for use in the mountains. I always have my vortex top and bottoms in my day pack for more serious weather. The jacket fits fine I got a large but it is snugger than the usual fit. Can't really understand the complaints about it not being suitable for torrential rain it is quite obvious from the info given by the manufacturer that this is a windproof and shower proof jacket. If you want full protection go gortex or similar material but you obviously have to pay for it. All in all good quality lightwieght jacket as you'd expect from Rab that does what it says on the tin. I agree that the name may give the impression its fully waterproof so perhaps they should get rid of the Downpour moniker

Really great rain jacket
So far this has been a perfect jacket. I previously used the Rab Spark jacket and used it a ridiculous amount over 5 years until the zip began to go (which I had no complaints about). This jacket has kept me dry in serious downpours and I've worn it every day for dog walks and football coaching. I spent ages debating the plus but really the hood difference makes no difference to me. The zip pockets are in a good location and have kept things dry. Very happy.

This has to be the most inappropriately named jacket in the world
I have hardly worn this jacket, but decided to go out for a walk in the rain. Now, it wasn't a 'downpour'. But it was lightly raining. This jacket was awful. It leaked like sieve and soaked my clothing underneath. Apart from that it was very comfy. However, if you need protection from the rain - spend your money on something that actually works

Very good and light jacket
Perfect lightweight jacket! Fits as expected, very light 👍👍 update- have it through some heavy rain and it did soak through on the edges but this was after five maybe more hours in nonstop exposed rain. At last four hours nonstop rain it can do no problem, minimum condensation from the inside. But for all day in rain i may go for something else.

Highly recommend
Bought this for my husband as we were going hiking in the Tatra Mountains Poland. It proved worthy by keeping him dry during a few very wet days. Looks nice and is comfortable to wear.
