Working Well After 2 Months Of Use
I recently replaced a catalytic convertor for a 2003 GMC Envoy with a 3rd row seat (see my review at the Walker 55477 Ultra Domestic Converter - Non-CARB Compliant product page). In one of the owner forums I visited, another poster stated that if the water temperature of the engine is low due to a bad thermostat, it can reduce gas mileage and in time, ruin your cat. convertor. So in addition to replacing the thermostat (also purchased here at Amazon), I also replaced the temperature sending unit. Like so many DIY's and professional mechanics have learned, when you tear something down, it's best to replace all the parts. So while my old sensor appeared to operate correctly, I still chose to replace it.While I agree with some reviews that stated it appears cheaply made, it has been on the vehicle for several months now and has had no issues. I do recommend that when replacing it, SLOWLY and CAREFULLY screw it into the engine block as it was very hard to access. The threads already had some sealant on them (as shown in the picture) and in order to make sure it wasn't crossed threaded, I took my time. Once in it is working well with no problems.

A perfect fit, but…
After my trailblazer became hard to start, I determined the computer was getting the wrong engine temperature information. The first sensor was received damaged and returned. A replacement was immediately sent and was in good condition. The sensor is not easily installed, although it is the fault of GM designers. The alternator and battery must be removed to gain access to the sensor to be removed. The actual replacement of the sensor is very easy, but does require a special tool or a crow foot wrench. Now there is no starting problem.

part was hard to install because of its location. need an 18mm crows foot to remove and install
Part fit perfectly and works great. I wish I could say it was easy to install but it wasn't. (Tucked up under motor).

Good price for oem
Installed this on my GMC envoy while doing the thermostat just in case this was bad too. It's a real pain on the 4.2l. get a sensor socket 18mm or a crowfoot wrench adapter otherwise you won't be able to turn it. Works as intended no error codes.

Not the issue on my 2003 GMC
Did not fix my temp gauge, seems GM has some known issues with the stepper motors that are behind the gauges, my oil gauge was not working as well, I replaced that sensor as well several months ago, so I wasted time and $ on 2 sensors. I had to pull out the instrument cluster and replace 2 stepper motors, now they work great! Be warned the stepper motor replacement is not easy, it helps if you have circuit board soldering experience.
