There are good ideas here
Wow. Talk about preachy. It's off-putting to read in the intro and in some of the lists that this is a panacea for all that ails us. Again. There are good ideas here, but there are other books out there that are as good and use a more positive approach to presenting the same information. In addition, I felt the author was talking down to dim-witted teachers who are too out of it to understand the value of the ideas. Heavens to Betsy! DI is not a fad? Please tell me more! Lacking in respect for the reader, it was also lacking in the ability to make me want to read a lot of this. I give it a "meh."

A book on teaching that teachers can actually use
This is actually a pretty practical and useful book. All of the information is in the format of lists of things to try, which makes it easy to use. The last few chapters are also specific to different content areas. I can see myself feeling stuck, grabbing this book and reading through the content area suggestions for new ways to differentiate or accommodate. This is a book on teaching that I expect to actually use while teaching, which is rare. I recommend it.

Not specific enough
I thought the book had a lot of good general teaching ideas, but it had very few solid and specific ideas for differentiated instruction. There were a few examples for tiering and learning contracts, but activities such as using graphic organizers are not DI-specific strategies. The suggestions are very broad, e.g., timelines, gallery walks, political cartoons as ways to differentiate teaching social studies. But what was missing were the specifics for content, product, and process.

This book is full of steps, tips, ideas and resources to let teachers in any subject area, at any level, begin to make differentiating part of their lesson plans today. In addition to the book, bonus material, links to resources and more is available at the author's website at [...]

Extremely helpful and informative
As a new teacher I have found the information in this book extremely helpful. It's one thing to be told it's important to differentiate within your classroom and why but it's the how that becomes challenging. This book gives practical, real-life examples that are categorized into both age groups and subject areas. It is current and includes lots of tips using technology.Plus there is a related website with additional free information.I'm very impressed and will used this valuable resource regularly.
