I tend to temper my expectations for 'Basics' products, but these nesting melamine mixing bowls far exceeded what I'd hoped for, after I shattered the middle bowl of three plastic ones I'd been using for years before (carelessly knocked it onto a tile floor). The color and print style are quite attractive, enough so that these bowls wouldn't look out of place on a dining table. Most of all, I was surprised at how thick the plastic was, actually far better than my old, obviously brittle set. There's also a nice bit of outdent on the upper edge of the bowls, a short way down from the top on the outside, that make it easier to grip them, even with damp hands. The lids are all right, but I wouldn't say these are total-sealing (that is, don't expect them to hold if you slosh liquids inside too much), but they're certainly good for temporary fridge storage of a salad or whatever. I do like the fact that the entire set can be stacked all together, including lids if you attach each one to its associated bowl, but as far as I'm concerned, that makes it more difficult just to grab one out of the set and use it, so I've created a separate stack just for the lids. The review prompts suggest I comment on microwave safety. Well, I'll say right out that these are -not- recommended for microwave use. (It might even be why my old set of cheaper bowls went brittle on me.) I'd also suggest that certain staining or fatty foods could discolor or leave residue on the melamine, so it seems it's probably best not to use these bowls for that purpose. Overall though, I'm pleasantly surprised by this set and consider it a great value.

These bowls are gorgeous. Every one of them is well made and has no imperfections. They nestle nicely inside of one another with all of their lids, creating one big bowl that you can easily find a spot for, especially consider how beautiful they are. The rubbery grip at the bottom of each one keeps the bowls from sliding around while you use them and the lids are easy to take off and put on with one hand. Best of all, if you didn't know any better, you'd think you were looking at porcelain bowls. They're perfect. I wouldn't change a thing!

These bowls are perfect. The sizes are ideal, they nest nicely so they don’t use up too much space and they are just beautiful! They’re slip resistant when used for mixing batters and the lids seal tightly when used for salads or leftovers. They’re also very durable and much lighter and easier to handle than my heavier glass bowls which these replaced. Definitely recommend. EDIT: While I do still love these bowls, I have to say that the lids aren’t quite as good as I thought. I’ve had this set for a while now, and I’m finding that the lids don’t fit properly, they're VERY difficult to get onto the bowls, and they don’t seal well at all. And I’ve never put them in the dishwasher….I always wash the bowls and lids by hand.

Beautiful set of bowls that are functional as storage and lovely for serving. The cottage core design is bright and the weight of the bowls are substantial. Great value and highly recommended.

Easy to store. Functional and very pretty. Light weight great to use when bringing something to a pot luck dinner.

Best bowls ever. My husband loves them. I love them couldn’t ask for more, but I love that. There’s a rubber grip on the bottom so they don’t slide if I use a mixer in them. I love that I can store food in them without having to grab saran wrap or some other top because they have a lid. They are my go to bowl every day. The pattern hasn’t wore off the side and I’ve had them a year now they are really a real good bowl. To top that off, they are so easy to clean even stuck food on them comes off easily after it gets damp.

perfect for everything you'd want a handful of like nuts, chips or candy. Works for a big dollops of chip dip, guac, and alike. nice colour white and they do well in the dishwasher.
