Effective and safe.
I have previously used this on metal and this time on plaster walls with layers of various types of paint. Very effective and pleasant to use. Also removed splashes from terracotta tiles. Easy clean up as water based. No idea how it works but it doesRecommend!

Stripper is amazing BUT damaged from delivery
I don’t want to deduct a star because it’s the best paint/wax/varnish stripper I’ve ever used. I upcycle furniture and it gets everything off without damage and I can even do it on the kitchen worktop with my kids running around (I don’t, but I could!) and no gloves or mask because it’s totally safe. The stripper is brilliant and this is the 2nd time I’ve bought this in 2 weeks but, whether it’s the seller or the couriers fault, I don’t know - the lid was loose and the product had leaked all over the inside of the plastic packaging/bubble wrap. It’s not a great thing to have to clean up when you’ve just been woken up early from your only lay in in the week, for the delivery, and if I didn’t love the actual stripping power of the product so much I would be furious. I’ll continue to use this stuff and always buy it. But come on - sort the lid out or find new ways of securing it. Or find a new courier!!!I’m just glad I’m not clearing up toxic stripper - I suppose I have that to be thankful for!

It really works!
I’ve no idea how or why this stuff works as it’s so different from other paint strippers we’ve used but I do know it’s done a brilliant job for us! We’ve got through several large tubs since we moved into our 1970 s bungalow. We had both sides of eleven original sapele doors to strip. They were coated with thick brown varnish that had been applied all through the years. We used a large paintbrush to slather it on thickly waited an hour and all the layers of varnish just glided off in one go using a paint scraper. Very satisfying! We just went over the doors afterwards with plain water and non scratch kitchen scrubbing pads to easily remove any bits of varnish we missed and when they were dry just oiled them with Danish oil. We’ve also used it to remove several layers of paint from window sills which took a bit more work as it didn’t remove all the layers in one go even though we put it on thickly, covered it in cling film and left it several hours. Even so we would not have tackled any of these jobs ourselves if we hadn’t discovered this super product. (Not sure if this is relevant/useful but we’re both in our seventies) Yes it’s messy as are all other paint strippers but we love this one as it’s so easy to use, doesn’t burn the skin and just has a mild aniseedy smell. And it really worked!

Worked but messy
I used over night, on a very old piece of furniture, to remove the varnish. It did work but it does require some work to remove and it is messy. No harsh smell. I did find it softened the wood but it may just be the piece I was working.

Didn't remove any paint what so ever!
Well. This product had mixed reviews but I thought I'd give it a go. We had several doors from a hand made built in wardrobe to strip. The doors were cheap wood frame with hardboard center panels. They each had a coat of primer then an old 1980s applied gloss coat followed by a 2010s emulsion coat. The aim was to strip them back to naked and repaint from scratch.I've used several paint strippers before, all smelly and quite nasty. Whilst they got the job done, they had environmental and personal safety concerns. I saw this product and it sounded like a perfect paint stripper. I ordered the 2L container and when it arrived my wife used it to strip the doors in situ. After applying a thick coat and leaving it for an hour she tried to scrap the paint off. No luck. Nothing came off, not a single flake. The stripper had gone sticky, like the stuff left behind after you remove a sticky label 5 years after you stuck it down. Removing the stripper was a difficult job which became very messy very quickly. Finally she gave up and asked me to help.I removed the doors, one at a time, took them into the shed and cleaned them down with soapy water. This removed the excess stripper, but the paint remained in tact. Heat gun out, scrapper in hand, I then set to and managed to strip each door in about 2 hours.Final verdict...useless. In fact, less than useless as the product itself became part of the problem.Would definitely not recommend this to anyone.

It works
I love this stripper, its made my life so much easier. I have quite a significant disability, so doing DIY is extra challenging. I have Edwardian doors and hardware in my house that have been painted over multiple times that I wanted to restore. I started with the hardware and this little tub of stripper to see if it works. This stripper worked like a charm. I left it on 12 hrs and that got the bulk of the paint off with very little effort. 2nd application removed all the paint. The gel formula means I could work vertically, it doesn't drip and you can get into really awkward bits like the inside of a key hole. Apply with a brush dabbing it rather than brushing works well, be generous. Cover it with plastic, I used a carrier bag that i cut up and masking tape. Leave it for 12-24hrs, scrape it off, give it a scrub with a wire brush (I used a dental pick for the details) and you're there. It's worked so well on the hardware, I've ordered more so I can strip the whole door. I used maybe 1/4 of the tub, doing multiple applications (i didn't read the instructions properly), for multiple layers of paint you leave it longer. For me, as a person with limited mobility and strength, this works really well and is well worth the money.

Works on very specific things only
This paint stripper was great for lightly painted surfaces, taking off stain on wood where it was applied against the grain, and the top layer of paint on skirting boards. Any more than that though and it did nothing, even after I tried leaving it different amounts of time, wrapping in cling film, etc. overall not great but can’t be returned.
