Corona GT 3080 ExtendaHANDLE Trowel

LOVE THESE! Quality heft, very study, easy mechanism for my aging hands to work so I can extend it to the length I want. This allows me to sit on my garden bench and reach places I just couldn't before. I'm going to get a second set!

This is a great little shovel/large trowel. Like other Corona hand tools, it is study and well made. I have NO idea why other reviewers said the extendable handle was too hard to maneuver! You simply hold the black grooved end near the head with one hand and twist the long handle with the other hand. There's even arrows to show the direction the handle should be rotated It is fully adjustable so you can "lock" it in place at any length along the shaft. It has to be a somewhat tight turn in order to hold the handle in any position. I was wondering how large the head was before I purchased this so I've included a picture of it next to a cordless phone. The head is a little smaller than I expected but it will work for my immediate task to get solidified salt out of my water softener's tank. It's also a little heavier than expected but again, this thing is sturdy and the weight is due to it being metal rather than the usual plastic garbage from China. It has a "fully heat-treated steel head" and there is a metal loop on the other end so it can be hung up too. I anticipate this being a handy tool for many years and it appears to be made in the U.S.A. (Corona is based in CA) although the packaging doesn't state it's origin.

Heavy enough to feel solid and usable, just light enough not to be burdensome. The twist handle clicks in place so I have confidence that it will stay put, not like some handles that can work loose. Looking forward to using it as a long trowel to keep me from having to do a lot of bending when it's time to do weeding.

I actually use this shovel as a pooper scooper and it does the job!

This extendable trowel is impressively well made. The craftsmanship is solid, and should last a long time, even with regular use. I've had others that bent or broke off when I accidently went into hard ground. The handle IS thicker than I like, and the overall weight is heavier than I prefer - small trade-offs considering the quality. The padded grip on the handle is removable and I LOVE that the open/close lever 'snaps' into place and stays put. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the purchase, would buy again and def recommend!

I was having a very difficult time turning it to open it, and so was my husband. You have to really grip the black trowel handle part and firmly turn it the other way, while holding the handle and slightly pulling out. Once it's extended to the position you want, you reverse it and it will lock in hard.
