Best mat I've found
I researched a lot of mats before deciding on this one. I'm very pleased with it. It is easy to wipe clean with wet cloth or wash/rinse clean under the faucet. It secures dishware to prevent some skidding (not perfect here but way better than our glass table). What I love best is the lip that is along the perimeter which you don't find on most mats. If our toddler manages to spill (or in some cases, dump) his cup or something else with liquid, the lip prevents the liquid from escaping the placemat area. The mat having some weight and slight stickiness to it has yet to be peeled completely from the table and thrown by my toddler. He has only managed to lift up the edges. This is our one and only mat for him. Update May 2015: After couple years of continued use, this is still the only mat in our home that we use for our now preschooler. It works so well and has held up to daily wiping and washing by hand. I have run it through the dishwasher (top shelf, no heat dry cycle) about once a month. The color, texture and shape have held up well. My only problem is I was hoping to use the mat we own with my second child but I may need to buy a second one as I don't think my preschooler wants to give up his mat yet. Update July 2017: I did end up buying a second mat a while ago so my youngest could have his own. Both mats still look and work great with daily use by my kids. I wipe clean with damp sponge or rag usually. I will be able to pass these along to relatives or friends when my kids no longer need or want mats.

Dinner time game changer
We just moved our 18 month old from a high chair to a big boy booster seat. I was concerned that moving him would result in a lot of food being all over the table and all over the floor. I started looking into something silicone (almost all of my kitchen stuff is silicone because of how easy it is to clean) that wouldn't slide off the table, would be easy to clean, and contain the mess. Then I stumbled across this! This mat is adorable with a little owl and tree on it and is green to match their booster chairs, my kids love that and it makes them want to use it! The green sprouts mat sticks to our dining room table and has a good lip around the edge to keep food from sliding off easily. We get a lot of dinner time temper tantrums so it puts my mind at ease that food won't end up on the floor...or at least less than if it were on a little toddler plate. It's also really nice because it's the perfect size for my 18 month old to use by himself or big enough that my 3 year old can share it with him. We've been putting a variety of foods on it and then they can each eat what they want so there is a lot less wasted food. My kids use metal silverware and the silicone doesn't show any wear from that. It holds up in the dishwasher no problem. It rinses clean in the sink with next to no scrubbing. I wish I would have had this when we transitioned my oldest to the table. It's a great product. My only complaint is, that like most silicone products, it's not sturdy enough to carry from room to room with food on it, but that is the trade off of being able to fold it up to store it (which is another nice feature).

Great Travel Placemat - Doesn't Stick to Wood
I was looking for a heavy duty wipeable placemat to travel with, and protect our dining table while teaching my toddler to feed himself. This mat does the job of providing a protective - wipeable - easy cleanup layer to the table, however, it DOES NOT stick to wood, and only took my little guy about 3 minutes until he figured out he could lift it off and flip it over. If he is occupied with his food, or if I hold down the edge while he's eating, he seems to forget about picking up the mat, so all is not lost. It does stick better to solid surface if you are planning to use it on a granite countertop. I have not tried with a glass-top or plastic surfaces, but would think it would stick great especially to a glass-top. This mat does fold up nicely for travel and dining out, and is perfect for those pesky mesh-top outdoor tables that toddler food slips through, or any outdoor venue you might need a solid surface for the kiddo.

Many helpful uses
We use these mats on our changing tables. We keep our wipes container on it (so it doesn't slide around while we're using it one handed), and we keep our diaper cream on it. The aesthetic is nice because it keeps these items contained looking on an open table, and it's also nice to be able to keep these items off the wood of our changing table, on a surface that is easy to clean and stays in place. Also love that they are white since our changer is in a room with more neutral tones.

Great for Drawing Time
When I bought this last February, my intention was for my 1 year old toddler to use it during mealtimes. I didn't find the product very useful as a feeding mat so it disappeared into the cabinet until a few months ago. Don't get me wrong: it is not a bad placemat and I could see how it might be useful for this purpose for some people. I personally found it annoying to clean food items off of it since it is large and floppy and doesn't easily fit into a dishwasher. I decided I'd rather just wipe down the table. Having said all that, we now use this item whenever my daughter draws which is many times a day so it gets a ton of use. It keeps the paper from sliding around on the table. For awhile I was taping the paper to the table. Then, in what felt like a stroke of genius, I pulled this out of the cabinet. It worked great! No more sliding paper. No more tape. It is perfect for this use. So, while I am not using this the way I thought I would, I am very glad I purchased it because it found a different use and has been very helpful. I now just keep it on my coffee table with paper and washable crayons around for my toddler to use whenever she wants. She gets to be independent and I don't have to deal with frustration over sliding paper or even think about that problem anymore. It seems minor but sometimes it's the little stuff, ya know?

We got this for our sons lunchbox. They have to clean up their mess after lunch at school so I wanted a placemat with an edge to catch the crumbs. This way all he has to do is carry it to the trash bin to dump. Perfect solution!
