Don’t waste your time or money on this
Several people of varying ages tried to figure out the directions but they’re not clear and eventually frustration caused us to throw what little is in this kit away. Don’t waste your money.

Kicks your friendship bracelets up a notch!
I picked up this Craftabelle Bracelet Making Kit for my 10 year old daughter. I like that this kit builds on skills my daughter has already learned making hundreds of friendship bracelets, but takes it to a new level by working in new knots and rhinestones. We love these Craftabelle kits, they are the perfect size and price point to pick up to have on hand for a rainy day. I like to be able to pull out a kit, my child can complete the craft in one afternoon and then enjoy her creation. These kits come with everything you need, you will not be searching for additional supplies. Typically, Craftabelle kits contain very clear instructions and are easy to follow, yet they allow room for your own personality to shine through, plus there are enough supplies here to make several varieties or to share if she had a friend over. All in all, this is another winner from Craftabelle and would make a great gift on it's own. At this price point, I could see these kits as a perfect grab bag gift or tucked into an Easter Basket or Christmas stocking. You could even tie up several kits together with ribbon and present it to your favorite crafty kid as an impressive birthday gift! The reusable tins are great for keeping colored pencils or other supplies organized as well! Great kit!

There IS a lead warning on the back of this box, so just want to be honest and open about that up front. The warning goes on to say however that the kit conforms to federal standards and is only a problem if eaten or chewed. You obviously don't want your kids to eat beads and stuff, and you may want to give this kit to a child who isn't bad about putting things in their mouth regardless. That said, these kits are made for kids eight and up but honeslty, I think they should be marketed for any person 8 and up, since adults may like to try some of these crafts too. The kits are fun and easy to understand but may be complicated for some. The takeaway though is that the items available in this kit are available inexpensively a any craft store or large retailer and once you have completed the projects in the kit you can refill to keep making and designing them. These are a teaching tool after all but you can learn skills that you can use for years to come and these are all great. A little parental guidance for those who give to a preteen child and it will be OK. All the materials in this kit is decent quality.

Great Tools, Instructions and Packaging :-) Cheesy Materials :-(
When I got this package, I was thinking I had found the perfect gift for the tween girls in my life. I make jewelry at a much, much higher level, and I know that the girls want to make their own pieces. However, I cannot give them $50 worth of materials to play with. I hoped that this would fill the gap.First the good news: The packaging is beautiful. No tween would scoff at this, an embossed metal tin with pretty coloring and floral decoration. The instructions inside the package are phenomenal, and a tween should be able to make the bracelets with a small amount of adult assistance. Each package gives the girl a variety of bracelets to choose to make, and she will have a couple - some to keep and some to give to friends. Then the bad news: The beads are plastic, the stringing material only fair, and bracelets made with these materials will last anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. You are likely to have a crying girl when her friends bring back the bracelets for repair and her materials aren't good enough to repair them. The kits aren't all that expensive, and the packaging, instructions and tools are first rate. It would be worth it to me to purchase good stringing material (Good Hemp Cord comes to mind), a tube or two of 8/0 seed beads and a strand of fire polished beads (looks like crystal, but not sharp and much cheaper). Then I'd substitute the $5 worth of replacement materials for the crummy ones in the box. To be fair, that's easy for me. I can get all the stuff in my craft room. I'm not sure it's worth a trip to a craft store, but all the materials I'm talking about are available from Amazon.Or, give the package as it comes to the little girl, along with a date/time for her to make the bracelets along with you. You can then evaluate the material as you make the bracelets together, and replace whatever you need. Let her use the kit to learn the technique, then give her better materials.
