ILLUMISHIELD Screen Protector Compatible with Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (2-Pack) Clear HD Shield Anti-Bubble and Anti-Fingerprint PET Film

Installation took 5 tries to get alignment where I was happy with it. I should have used some light tape to test fit and hold it on one side because the screen size of the SP3 is far too large to just "wing it" without a heaping portion of pure luck. You really need to get it right the first time because each time it is taken off of the device it builds a static charge and then attracts to the screen making it that much more difficult apply/align. Once installed I used some scotch tape to remove some dust particles that collected due to the number of attempts it took me to install.There was only one tiny flaw in the protector that results in a permanent, but nearly indiscernible bubble.The fit is very nice once aligned properly, and I have not had any problem with it coming up on the corners or sides.The protector I received has a light "milky" appearance when the screen is off, also when it catches glare I can see tiny little dots all over the surface, but I do not feel any surface imperfections or notice any negative impact from either of these issues when the screen is on. At first I thought that maybe it has a film on the front also but I could not get it to separate if it does. I came back here to check reviews and noticed that somebody else said that it does not have a protective film on the front, but It seems like it does and I just can't get ahold of it.The pen functions well with this protector so far.Overall, it seems to do the job but I am slightly unhappy with this protector. I typically go for SGP Spigen protectors when they are available, and I have had good fortune with the incipio protector for the SP1. Those options were not available for my SP3 so this one looked like it would meet my standards based on the positive reviews, but sadly I feel it is mediocre at best. Maybe I will fill up my cart with some of the other options and hope to luck out with one of them.

The first thing I do when I buy a device is get a screen protector before I use it. I have used several brands over the years.I purchased the ultra clear HD variant of this product.Installation Method: Hinge method with pre-alignment using tape.Installation Environment: Bathroom with hot shower running to steam it up (brings down all the particles floating in the air so you do not get any contaminants under the screen protector during installation.)Let me start off by saying that the packaging was terrible. Part of it was the couriers fault, but also there should be a thicker cardboard insert to keep the screen protectors in good shape. Mine arrived severely bent I even put a couple cases of paper on top of a book with the screen protectors inside for 12 hours to attempt to flatten them back to a planar shape. But that didn't seem to work out. Thus, the installation of the screen protector was made extremely difficult when placing the warped protector on.Despite the difficult installation due to lack of proper packaging leading to warped protectors, I was able to finally align it to perfection. Installation was a breeze apart from dealing with aligning with the warped protector. No bubbles whatsoever, no debris caught underneath. Installation with a non warped protector is very easy if your protectors come in good condition.Now for the experience.After installation, I cleaned the screen with a microfiber cloth. I don't seem to get any smudges so it is good in that respect. However, if you plan on inking on this thing (which is hard to imagine since that's one of the main features of the SP), then I would look for something else. The friction on this screen protector is very high. The pen doesn't glide smoothly at all, and sometimes even skips on the screen due to the friction. When inking in MS OneNote, lightly gliding on the screen+protector often times would not register.Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this screen protector due to these issues. The oleophobic part of the screen might be what is hindering inking performance for me. But if you are particular about smudges on your screen, then it could be worth the tradeoff for you.I will say that the cut is very precise and I like this because it covers the entire screen without any margins. Just have to make sure you align it very well because there is not much room for error in alignment. I consider this a good thing.

I got this for the Surface pro 3 because I've used this brand on other devices and was completely satisfied with the quality. First off, it was easy to install and went on perfectly the first time. It looks great and, except for the cutouts, you can't tell that it's on the tablet. Now for the bad part. This screen protector is not as slick as the glass and therefore will wear down your Surface pro 3 pen tip really fast. I noticed some fraying of the tip after just a minute of use. I certainly did not expect this but then it does make sense considering the added friction this protector has. If you don't expect to use the pen then this may not be a problem. However, the pen is the main reason I got this tablet in the first place. I don't know if other protectors have the same issue. Unfortunately, I will have to remove this one. Bummer!Update: after using a couple of these types of screen protectors without success, I decided to try a tempered glass screen protector. What a difference. Not only is it a better screen protector, but the pen works flawlessly now without any wear. It also has a beautifully slippery feel. Unfortunately, these are mostly sold from China. Nillkin seams to be the best but I don't know if they make it for the surface pro 3. I use the Nillkin on my cell phone and it's perfect. The one I got for the surface is of lesser quality with some noticeable blemishes with the screen off but not noticeable with it on. Very pleased with the performance of tempered glass.
