Berwick Offray 1/4'' Wide Matte Raffia Ribbon, Williamsburg Blue, 100 Yards

It says in the listing but it should say in the title that it is not Raffia (implication: Raffia Paper) but in fact is 1" wide plastic scrunched up to look like raffia paper. It's fine, but I bought it for a baby's birthday celebration and this is a choking hazard. My fault for not reading in detail before buying; their fault for not putting plastic in the title of the item so let's split the difference at 3 stars. Also the tape used to bind the spool when torn off tears the raffia, so the first ring of it is destroyed...

It’s a plastic not paper. It’s just your shredded plastic bag. Go save those turtles...

I started using wraphia craft ribbon as part of my gift wrap many years ago in lieu of other types of ribbon like satin, curling, or wired. I usually take a couple of different colors and wrap them around a package/present and loop them generously to create a huge bow. These ribbons do exactly the trick, and are thicker and more durable than some of the other raffia type ribbons I've purchased from local craft stores. I wish they didn't cost so much, but they do last quite a while.

You know the white plastic grocery store bags they pack your groceries in? This stuff looks and feels exactly like that. I wanted to make some flowers for my wedding, and when I made the first one my son asked me if I made it out of a grocery sack. :-/ Not exactly the look I was going for. I thought it would be thicker or matte, or maybe a little bit more like raffia. It seems a little cheap. It's not awful, and I might find a use for it, but it wasn't what I was expecting.

I bought this ribbon to use for my Easter treat bags for my 50 students. I was SHOCKED at how much you actually get (Yeah it said 100 yards but still...)! Each of the 50 treat bags got about 2 feet of ribbon and I still have most of the roll left over! Awesome. The color is vibrant and bright and it didn't fray or anything when I used it. It's a good product!
