VHS/DVD conversion worked - use OBS Software and play around with the settings and you'll get it
I was really skeptical this device would work given the $10 price, but I got it working exactly as I hoped (converting old VHS and DVDs to digital) in less than 90 mins by playing around with it. I never bothered to try the CD software that comes with it, instead I went straight to downloading the free OBS software other reviewers mentioned. The capture device immediately showed the video in the OBS application on my PC, but I wasn't able to hear any sound play on my PC or get sound to record on the OBS digital capture. Turns out this was NOT the capture device, it was actually the OBS software. There are 3 different locations for audio settings in the OBS application (and dozens of audio setting combinations), but with some Googling and playing around with all the OBS settings, I eventually got the sound to play on my PC... The audio sounded great playing on my PC, but when I clicked "record" in the OBS app it was really distorted when I played the recording back. Once again, I messed around with the OBS audio settings (i.e., switched from 48hz to 44hz, switched from Mono to Stereo, and most importantly "disabled" all other audio devices/microphones/etc. in OBS except the one I wanted) and then the audio sounded great on the recording playback as well. In my opinion, all of these capture devices hardware (not just this one) are the same and will work, and your success (or not) is ultimately 99% dependent on the software you are using and your ability to mess around with the software settings to get it to work. All said, this worked great for me and I'm very glad I went with the $10 version instead of the $100 versions out there. Good luck!

Greate value for the money
This is exactly the one i was looking. Excellent product easy to install and use. Both software and hardware worked great. I was able to easily convert my ntsc tapes to digital videos. Again great prodcut value for the money.

Works on Mac, but shows as MONO AUDIO ONLY for me.
Despite having connectors for video plus left and right audio, this device presents on a Mac as a single-channel audio device. The trick is to run the audio from your VHS player into a separate audio device, then, in Quicktime, do New Movie Recording and, with the record button pulldown menu, select this device as the video source and your sound card as the audio source, if you want stereo audio. If you have a multichannel sound card and are still only getting mono audio, get Loopback from Rogue Amoeba and make a Loopback Audio Device that takes the first two channels of your multichannel card, then select that Loopback Audio Device as your audio source for the Quicktime recording. With that, you can get decent stereo captures from old VHS tapes.

Great for digitizing from both analog and digital devices
It works better than I thought it would. Great value for what it does. Not so long ago, I paid over $500 for a video capture card. It only captured in 320x240. This one captures up 720x576 pal but has settings for ntsc as well. Only problem, sometimes there is audio, sometimes not. However, I think that is due to using software other than what came with this device. I love this little thing and an glad I bought it.

Seemed to work... At first
The product seemed to work in the beginning after installing and connecting. Then after the first attempt, nothing was recorded, saved, and the file would not "preview" video when recording. At the end it would be a blank video. Very frustrating after almost two hours. Also, the pin connection for the "S-Video" connector was difficult to connect. Looking at the connector is looks off-center and not was not detected by the software. Not very happy with the product.

EXCELLENT FOR VHS TO DIGITAL TRANSFER
Excellent quality! It comes with a easy to use software program, make sure you keep the manual (the activation code) is in the manual. I ended up using OBS as my video software. Much better quality when compared to the include software.Overall excellent product! Transferred my 20 year old VHS tapes to my PC to then upload on YouTube.

Works as expected
I was actually pleasantly surprised as this video grabber worked as well as it did. It performed better than the one I had (died after 1 year) and cost three times as much. I use it to display video from my security cameras video feed on my computer and it works well for that purpose. I do not know how well it works converting video feed from VHS/DVD players to digital, but you can give it a try.

Fast delivery, but hasn’t successfully worked for me yet...
So, my review:Positives:Item arrived promptly, well packaged, contained what it described, which is good.Negatives: the item hasn’t been quite plug and play i had expected based on other reviews and similar items. I will note I’ve previously (years ago) used Dazzle with success, however Dazzle doesn’t seem to work on Windows 10, thus my quest for a new device to capture old VHS tapes (at a siblings request)The Software that came installed easily and seems straight forward. However on the first attempt/test to record VHS the audio would not sync up with the recorded video. (I was recording to VCD setting the first time). I tried this with 2 different VHS tapes, same result.I Tried again on a different setting (DVD), it started to record both video and audio. It started to capture both, however, it soon dropped video feed. This could be a hardware problem with the USB 2.0, not sure yet.I’ve since loaded the software onto a different comouter(my laptop), and still can’t capture the video. I have also tried a new VHS player, and still audio, with no video.I haven’t yet contacted the seller for advice or troubleshooting, but as stated, I was hoping for plug and play, and so far not so much.I may try different software, with the same usb 2.0’device, but haven’t had time to do so yet.
