I knew this was going to be a tough project, so I set aside a day when I knew I could sit down and dedicate a lot of time. I watched the tutorial YouTube video over three times, taking notes lol. Then I used it on half speed as a reference while I performed the operation. One of the joystick ribbon cables was pretty difficult to pull out even though I released it. Unfortunately I think I scratched it.I ended up having to buy a new replacement joystick for the one joycon, but that was entirely my own fault.Overall, this project took me about two hours when I finally decided to sit down and go through with the thing. Another 2 days waiting for the replacement joystick. And a few days mentally preparing beforehand.Totally doable, but if you are inexperienced, certainly study up! Stay organized, take your time and be gentle! Ultimately worth it, I looooove how my switch looks now

Pros: Looks way nicer than the original red/blue color combo. Brings back a bit of nostalgia as well. Back plate color matched up pretty well with my sheikah slate skin, so that was a plus. After installation, everything seems to work well, buttons, joystick, etc. I’ll assess durability at a later time.Cons: Components are tiny, which is to be expected. Definitely requires dexterity in your hands and fingers in order to move the tiny pieces around. No instructions included in box, but there are a lot of Youtube vids that show you step by step how to disassemble and reassemble. I would look at those first, before deciding if you’re up for the challenge. The set I received had a small flaw in one of the holes. It was too wide to securely attach a screw, so I had to improvise. Hopefully it will hold up long term.

These are super cool retro takes me back kinda feel. paint and color match is spot on. texture makes your mind (???), it has a rubberish feel to it. over all a great product, the only thing to make it better would be an easier transfer of the guts but not y'alls fault.BUT what is your fault was the 5 minutes of sweeping with my floor magnet when i opened the box laying flat above the counter and about 10 to 20 screws spilled all over (those things are tiny). the plastic bags inside had given up and all the screws, springs, and bits were Free floating inside the box. I'm still not sure if i got them all up. LOLPlease look into this for future customers sanity.Over all Awesome product, frustrating packaging, durability we will see

These cases definitely complete the look of the switch. It’ll make yours stand out for sure. The installation isn’t tricky, you just have to take your time and be very meticulous. It helps to take photos as you’re taking it apart so you can remember where the short/long screws go. Other than that, you can’t beat the price for the look and quality. They look and function so well that I bought another set for my other joycon. I would definitely recommend them

Although there were some tricky parts to this replacement, it was pretty quick and easy to do while watching a video on YouTube. The company also makes a back cover replacement, a front cover for your docking station and cases for your pro controllers. I went all original NES and love the look.

These things look more amazing than the picture, but the process is not for the faint of heart. Love them

The shell is a perfect fit for my joycon. I wanted something that looked unique compared to other joy cons and these work great. First thing I will say is that it does come with all the tools you will require for the swap. The tri screwdriver and the phillips screw driver are included. They are replaceable tips but not magnetized from what I can tell. The buttons are all on stencils (I think that is what they are called). You do not have to worry about any nubs as they are hidden under the shell. The replacement was actually not too difficult. There are no real instructions on how to swap them out and I would still recommend you watch a video on this if you are new to it. Take things slow and it will be a pretty easy swap. All the replacement pieces match the original joy con shell in shape so you do not have to worry about the screws not fitting. One thing to note is that when putting the screws back you have to apply a little more force when closing it up. You will feel some resistance due the fact that the case is new. The overall look that i got was to match the original NES class but I do not think this really does the controller justice but still it looks great. The feel is definitely different from the original joy con controller. It feels sanded down and smooth. It grips pretty well and the buttons feel solid. After the replacement, I did not see any issues with the controller. Everything seems to work fine. Overall I think this is a solid replacement shell. You get a new unique joycon look and you can tell your joycons apart from others.

first time buying an installing watched a youtube instructional video and pretty much figured it out but the screws that came with it get warped extremely easily so i couldnt screw one side completely but it works because i have a cover that goes over the switch and holds it on and you wouldnt know the difference unless you wanted to change it again but thats another times problem

A very high quality mod kit for your Nintendo Switch Joycons. The tools supplied are very high quality and the mod kit comes with spare screws and springs should you lose any in the process of modifying your joycons. During the installation you may find that a pair of tweezers and a plastic spudger will come in handy to ease the installation process. There are no instructions included with the kit but there are You Tube videos on the internet that will walk you through the process with hints and tips along the way. It will take time to install this modification but taking time will ensure a magnificent outcome. The quality of the mod casings and buttons are very high quality in build and the parts fit extremely well. The soft grip touch on the back of the joycon casings are a great feature to the joycon modification. Overall... 10 out of 10 for a mod kit. I cannot find any faults with the kit and the function it provides. I have to say I am very pleased with the kit being a highly critical person when it comes to quality and the spare screws and springs are much better quality than the Nintendo's OEM springs and screws. This kit can be fiddly at times due to the nature of the joycon itself, but if you watch a few videos on You Tube along with the advice given and taking your time, you will end up with a fantastic looking pair of joycons that all your friends and family will be jealous about.

To start off, this is not a very easy installation and you can 100% brick your joycons. Don't get these if you aren't ready to buy new cons because you have broken your first two. The manufacturer of these beautiful shells did an amazing job with the colour and finish. It's not their fault that you bricked the con's, it's yours! On to the review!They arrived very fast in post, only two days! They came with no instructions at all, I googled how to replace joycon shells and found the tut by IGN which for once they actually did an amazing job of. It wasn't so difficult to replace the shells as others have said in these reviews but it wasn't incredibly easy either. It took me just over a half hour to replace both shells and I had a blast doing so, I used only a pair of tweezers, a triscrew bit and a philips screw bit, thats all. The tri and philips screw bits were supplied in the package but I opted to use my own as they were better quality. (The backplate did not come with the joycon shells)Once I had replaced both cons and tested them, I could instantly feel the quality. I have no idea why Nintendo won't just release the switch in these different colours and designs, they look and feel so good. This brings a level of class and a classic look to my switch that very few have and it is very eye catching. If you are any bit savvy with tech then this will be fun and easy enough for you. I highly recommend getting these as the whole experience was great and I had extremely high hopes for these and they lived up to my expectations.

I have wanted Snes style joycons for a while and saw these on offer so decided to buy.They feel like really good quality. I do a lot of modding and have bought cheap replacement joycon housing from China and these are obviously better.The screw driver was a nice bonus, seems to be strong and worked well.My advice though is to tighten the screws with caution, make sure you can judge when it is at it tightest as with most repo cases you turn too much and the threads will strip.All the threads were ok except the one that attaches the side joycon rail. I added a dab of glue and inserted the screw and held it. Seems to have been ok.I do take a star away though as it does not come with the side sl/sr buttons? So if like me you will have different colours compared to the new joycon colours.Obvioulsy some skill is needed to fit, joycons are weak and easy to break so if you do attempt watch a lot of youtube videos on how to take apart.

I wanted to give my Switch a fresh look after nearly 4 years of owning it. The joycons had also started drifting so I bought this NES-themed kit along with a kit for the Joycon joysticks to fit at the same time.The shells fit perfectly and feel really great in the hand, they're a softer pastic finish than the original joycons which actually feels more comfortable but they still have a really premium look. The buttons feel good and don't need filing or adjusting.I used an online tutorial to replace the shells, it's not overly difficult and took me roughly an hour and a half, but it's incredibly fiddly with a lot of tiny delicate parts. fortunately this kit includes replacement screws and springs in case you lose anything, and it includes a really nice screwdriver which I'll definitely be using again. you will also need some tweasers and a spudger to disconnect some of the parts. Once you've finished it's like having a completely new set of joycon.

Ich habe schon diverse Joycons umgebaut.Zuerst einmal kommen die Gehäuse in einer schön aufgeräumten Verpackung. Der Lieferumfang ist klasse! Alle Schrauben sind dabei!Dem Gehäuse gegenüber war ich etwas skeptisch. Plastik in Holzoptik sieht schnell billig aus. Hier handelt es sich um weiße Gehäuse, welche mit einer Gummi/Silikon Schicht überzogen sind. Einen Kratztest an einer unauffälligen Stelle haben Sie schon einmal makellos überstanden. Durch die Schicht fühlen sich die Joycon sehr wertig an.Auch beim Umbau fiel auf, dass die Gehäuse sehr präzise gefertigt sind. Jedes Teil sitzt fest an seiner Position. Also kein Klappern wie man es bspw. von den durchsichtigen Gehäusen kennt.Alles in allem bin ich sehr zufrieden und gespannt, wie sich die Beschichtung in der nächsten Zeit verhält. :)
