Very good heater, cost efficient and designed with human use in mind.
I have used a cheap little shin height halogen heater for years and thought it's time to try something new. (halogen light hurts my eyes and only 1 bulb was still working, most of you probably know the kind of heater I mean)THIS 1kw carbon element heater is SO MUCH BETTER!It is very low noise, beyond the odd click and creak as the heated parts expand, it's fair to say it is silent. The oscillation has a minor ticking noise associated, no more or less than you would be familiar with.At the level "low" it draws about 475W (smart meter estimated reading) and puts out enough heat to rival 2bars on a halogen (honest opinion, as it covers a larger area)On the level "high" the heat is STRONG and draws about 975W, you can sit on your lounge sofa, a good 1.5 meters away from this heater and get a full body heat applied.I mostly keep mine on "Low" and never feel the need to increase power.Because....The design is a huge positive!!! not only does it look nice and sleek, the element is mounted vertically and covers a full 45cm (18") of heated space (full cover on both "low" and "high")As mentioned, halogen bulb light hurts my eyes, this does not have such an effect. like any light source, don't look directly at it.. but having it facing you isn't going to cause eye discomfort as far as I noticed.(If you're shoving your face up close, you only have yourself to blame for any baked eyeball sensations)It is light and well balanced, with an easy to hold handle on the back if you need to move while still hot.Has a safety cut off that trips when lifted or tilted.Oscillation feature is handy to span ~70⁰ of space (as you would expect, it heats best what it is directly facing)On top of it being a great product, the manufacture offers an extended 2yr warranty when registered. Will update review should I ever need to use.So I highly recommend as a low cost heater.

Brilliant Heater .low cost to run .
I’ve had one of these heaters for 10 years it still works but needed a new 1 for my bedroom as there cheap to run .i ordered this one Delivered day later .Its easy to put together just make sure the screws are tight .Heater itself is exactly same as the 1 I have it’s great plus this one has a excellent heat at low setting High setting is brilliant heated my room in few minutes .I’d highly recommend this heater .oh also my cat has a terrible habit of knocking into it when she’s having a mad half hour as it’s lightweight .no problem as it cuts straight out if knocked over .i can’t hear much noise when it rotates .very easy to use plus as I said it’s got a safety cut out if knocked over .quite cheap to run .goid price as well .highly recommend.

Very good for the price
I was unsure given the mixed reviews, so I thought I'd give a detailed and factual review as the description of this heater leaves a lot to be desired.I bought this heater for £39.59 with damaged packaging but new condition. First point, othercarbon element infrared heaters appear to be a lot more expensive! The plastic smell mentioned by other reviewers: a slight plastic smell when opening the box, after that I would say it was faint unless you go up very close to the heater / put your nose right above it - including after putting it on. I aired a little on first use to be on the safe side. My sense of smell is not extremely good but generally adequate I think.Flimsy? It is very lightweight and slightly loose or 'wobbly' on the base but I guess that's how it's designed, and as long as you handle it carefully when moving it I suspect it will be fine. The rotaing dial control to adjust the various settings feels a bit wobbly to operate as the heater itself is moveable on its foot, so you have to use two hands, one to hold the heater in place and one to operate the dial. Also, you have to go through other settings to get to the one you want but it does the job. In comparison my halogen heater has separate switches for the various functions, a more elegant solution that you can opeate with one hand. It feels more sturdy, but it's carpet cut out switch is more flaky. The cut out button on the bottom of this infrared heater works very well. I have operated the heater in carpeted rooms with no difficulties or concerns.Energy use: it has 4 settings, high and low, with 180 degree rotation and without. It is completely silent without rotation and makes a low-key pulsating sound when it moves. The sound is quieter and less annoying than a fan heater noise. I just point it at myself and prefer not to use the rotation, but it can be useful for sure if wanting to heat a wider area.It uses 520W on low without rotation and 530 with. It uses slightly below 1000W on high without rotation and I assume around 1000W with (not tested). This was measured with my smartmeter in-home display.Effectiveness (compared to 3-level 1200W halogen heater): on reading up, I realized halogen heaters are also infrared heaters but the element used in them appears to be a little less energy efficient than the carbon element used in this heater and it produces more light as an 'unwanted byproduct' so to speak. Subjectively, I feel the low level on this heater is probably about as effective as the middle (800W) level on the halogen heater at warning me up while sitting somewhere. I also prefer that this heater emits less light and that it is higher, so heats a larger vertical area. I find the halogen heater quite good too though and like that it has 3 power settings. This heater being quite high can make your face hotter; with the lower halogen one it tends to more heat your legs which in some cases can be an advantage, I suppose it depends on the exact setting and use. Overall I feel that this heater at 510W heats quite intensely compared to the halogen one at 400 or even 800W and it can be placed further away and still be felt quite strongly.Even though it says in descriptions that these heaters "only heat what they are pointed at, not the air in the room" the by-product of heating up me and the chair I'm sitting on etc is that the room gets significantly warmer overall, as evidenced by my thermometer.Overall I'm so far quite happy with the effectiveness and efficiency of this heater and I will keep it, which is better than I expected after reading some of the reviews. It is early days as I've only used it briefly today but I'm enjoying the way it heats a lot.It was easy if maybe very slightly fiddly to assemble. The base clicks together from two parts and the main top part is fixed in place with two short screws. Philips screwdriver required. A basic instruction leaflet is included.

Good value effective heater
This is a really effective heater particularly over smallish areas. I wouldn't use it to heat a whole lounge say. The heat is immediate especially on high setting and usually needs putting on low soon after. I now have 3 of these: office, small bedroom, corner of lounge and they are excellent and inexpensive esp on low setting. I rarely use the rotate function. They are about £40 (look around) and the first two I bought have now been running without problems for 2 years. They have a safety cutout and are easy to setup. Good product.

Energy Efficient, Works well
This is very nice and energy efficient, writing it after using this for 3 months.it has very little not noticeable noise. You feel instant warm when you come home from very cold and you just sit near it. It also works well in bigger area like king size room. it has two heat setting high(1000w)and low(500w)and also has rotational setting. it's somewhat bigger than other electric one so not that light in weight but manageable. Also it's big and take some space, but it's safe and is very bright.
