parts missing
how can you use a blender with no blades or lid? I couldn't so I had to return it...what a pity!

Some serious flaws
As one of the other reviewers mentioned, this blender is (or at least was) available at Costco, which is where I purchased it last year. I don't use it much, so it's taken me a year to decide if I like the product or not. In this case, not so much.First off, the motor is incredibly loud. I would not run this with a baby in the room. Seriously, not only would it scare the bajeebies out of a little one but I used to work in the field of deafness/audiology and am quite certain the decibel level of this motor is dangerous for still developing eardrums. I'm not being overly dramatic. People don't realize how many household objects can do damage to an infant's hearing and this one tops the list with its extremely loud motor. Also, I agree with the reviewer who indicated that the blender doesn't handle frozen fruit well. My fruit smoothies include almond milk, yogurt and frozen fruit. The almond milk and yogurt provide enough liquid (and I always add those first) so that the frozen fruit shouldn't constantly get jammed up in the blade, but it always does. This requires that I hold onto the lid and rock the whole blender back and forth on the counter while using it and stop a few times and unjam the fruit to get the blender to continue to...uh...BLEND!! I never understood why blenders have such narrow bases, anyway. It seems like that standard design makes this sort of unjamming inherently necessary for many things you're blending, no matter the model. However, this model seems worse than my old blender. This blender has worked well for pureeing soups and pulverizing small quantities of nuts and grains and such, but it's a bit of a hassle for frozen fruit. I haven't tried to crush ice in it yet and am surprised at the reviews saying it crushes ice well, based on my experience with a cup or so of frozen fruit. Finally, the other serious flaw is that if you don't crank the plastic blade holder onto the glass carafe extremely tightly, the blade holder will loosen during blending (presumably b/c the motor is so powerful) resulting in your blended mixture oozing out or completely draining out onto your counter when you lift the glass carafe off the base. The carafe and the blade holder will have separated completely or at least separated enough that losing the contents of the carafe is inevitable....and a big mess. The only solution - crank the blade holder onto the carafe so tightly that you will struggle to get it off when you're ready to clean up. Not a great option, either way. All things considered, I would not recommend this blender.

Works great....
We got this for the house after our old blender started leaking and it works great. The only thing I would say about it that bugs me is that it vibrates around the counter sometimes even with the contents being balanced and the glass being placed properly. I would still recommend it.

Good Blender
I burned up my last blender (an older Hamilton Beach) making bean dip. I am hard on a blender. I like to make margaritas. This thing can do it all. I was surprised at the performance for the cost. It didn't even complain. The pitcher is glass and all the parts wash up well in the dishwasher. We bought another one for our oldest son.

Useless for frozen fruit
My wife picked up one of these the other day for making smoothies. It is basically incapable of the task, as the blade does not mix enough to stir frozen fruit. It blends the bottom inch or two, and quickly separates into a layer of liquid that spins with the blade and a layer of frozen fruit sitting on top. I have to stop, stir, and blend way too many times for it to be practical, taking many minutes to make a pair of smoothies. This, combined with the fact that running the motor for any significant length of time (greater than say 10 seconds or so) produces a very unappetizing smell of heated plastic, has left me with a very unfavorable impression. We will be returning it and looking for something that actually works.

Great Blender for the price
The blender came and is just as described. It works very well and I am very impressed w/the heavy glass versus plastic container. It doesn't really lock into place, but it doesn't seem to be an issue. Cleans very well in the dishwasher and does a pretty good job.

Teriffic Blender
Bought as a christmas present for a friend. My only disappointment is the base isn't actually metal as I was hoping for durability. Should be perfectly fine as long as it isn't dropped. As for Power, we've mainly used it for margarita's, and it blends ice like it's no big deal. I am thinking about buying a second one for myself so I'll have an amazing blender when I have parties at my own place. (my cheap plastic one no longer satisfies me after using this.)

Great Quality, Great Price.
I compared blenders for quite some time before I decided which one to purchase. I chose this one and I'm glad that I did. The quality and the Price can't be beat. I know because I did my homework. I love this blender and would recommend to anyone who wants a basic but practical blender. I use mine often and it was a good choice for me.
