Great Heater
I was tired of the hassles with propane heat. Filling the tank, the noise, odors, etc. I shopped all over for an electric heater that I thought would work for me. I looked mainly at the Fahrenheat series heaters and some others. I chose this heater because it was not made in China, and it has a wall-mounted thermostat. Most of the other heaters have a thermostat on the unit, which means that you have to get a ladder to turn them on, off, or adjust. Not cool! Also, this heater was rated 80 CFM higher on the airflow than the Fahrenheat FUH54, which means it pushes out more heat farther.I was concerned that this heater was a little undersized for my garage, but so far so good. I installed the wiring run, and mounted the heater to the ceiling. I did not hard wire the final connection to the heater, I chose to wire it with a dryer cord instead. This will allow me to take it down from time to time to clean it properly. So far the heater is having no problems keeping it 65-70 degrees in my garage when it was 24 degrees outside with no wind. SOME DETAILS ABOUT MY GARAGE: It's an attached garage, 26' x 30' with 8' walls. (780 square feet) The walls are insulated to R-19, and the ceiling is insulated to R-38. I have two 9'x7' insulated garage doors. So far I have been happy with this heater. It's keeping the garage warm, and the thermostat works like a champ and is really nice! My friend has a Fahrenheat FUH54 in his garage, and he says this heater outdoes his by a good margin.I will update this review in the spring after using the heater all Winter.

only worked 1/2 day
The Slelpro RUH5 Electric Garage Heater only worked 1/2 a day after being professionally installed. After checking out what I could, I called the stelpro manufactures warranty phone line & was told I would need the electrician to come back out and check if the unit was receiving the correct amp, volts, ECT. It Was. That was an additional expense & time.Heater Still not working & trying to get Stelpro to understand that it isn't rocket science to see that if the fan is working, the coils were getting hot (for 1/2 a day) & aren't heating now & it isn't putting out heat that it should be fixed or replaced. Additionally, They showed a picture of a wall mount thermostat with the Heater & stated clearly on the advertisement page on Amazon that it was included with the purchase of the Electric Garage Heater. However, It DID NOT come with the Thermostat & States in the instructions sent with the Stelpro RUH5 heater that it DOES NOT include the wall mount Thermostat. In summery, A cold garage, and empty wallet & the only thing getting hot is my attitude. Feels more like April fools day than Christmas.

doesn't seem to throw a lot of heat. You ...
doesn't seem to throw a lot of heat. You have to be within 4 feet to feel the warm air. Eventually it will warm the garage but slowly. I have to supplement with another heater.

This little heater is great on performance
This little heater is great on performance. If you are not well versed on electrical installation it will require a professional electrician to install it. The thermostat works but is way out of calibration and requires the use of a thermometer to reset temperature marks that are about 10 degrees off.

Very well built garage heater
I purchased this for our last house in 2014. We had a fridge and sump pump in the one-car garage under the house. The garage was so isolated from the house and uninsulated that it pretty much reached ambient temp. In the winter in MD, this could mean 15-20 degrees F at the coldest. After the sump pump line froze, I said enough and purchased this. I had a very expensive home services firm do the electrical, including the appropriate 2-bar breaker (40A I think) and the 240 line, conduit, etc. I think install was about $750 for this easy 20-foot run through the ceiling. That said, I do recommend professional installation. The thermostat works very well and I like how simple it is. The heat from the unit is not inferno-hot so I didn't get concerned about fire risk with the wood ceiling or anything like that. It blows out nice 120-ish degree heat and is pretty quiet. You could work under it without being too bothered. I pointed mine at the corner of the garage where the fridge and sump are, which is farthest from the door (which does leak a fair amount even after sealing). The heater ran occasionally the past couple of winters and had no trouble maintaining 55-60 in the garage. It's a nice unit and is clearly built for the long haul. I have no regrets.

Parts Needed to Install/Buyer Beware
I have my electricians installing the heater, and much to our surprise, it did not come with a cord. SO I had to send my electrician out to find one that would fit! Almost $400 and NO CORD!

Awesome heater
This heater is awesome. I have been using it for a couple months on cold evenings. I have a two door attached garage that is not well insulated. The heater was well packaged when it arrived and was very well constructed and designed. If it is about 30° outside my garage would be about 40°. This heater will heat the space to 50° in about 30 minutes then cycle on and off to maintain. It doesn't get very hot (works by creating a large volume of warm air). Since it doesn't get screaming hot, and it is up near the ceiling away from all the flammable junk in my shop, I don't feel paranoid about it starting fires and will let it run a while unattended before going out there. The downsides are, as with any electric heater, it sucks some juice. You will see it in your power bill, so don't forget and leave it on overnight. Installation is not as simple as plugging it in, so if you don't know what you are doing with wiring you will have to hire a professional. The thermostat also seems to be off about 5°.
