I didn’t much care for this read - 2 Stars
The author is clearly intelligent and makes a good argument, at least in his own eyes, for switching from Missouri Synod Lutheranism to Roman Catholicism. His book is well organized, and sticks to the issues. However, I found it boring to read and not especially interesting. I am a person that considers himself half between a Catholic and a Lutheran on most issues of theology, and yet this book didn’t really speak to me. Maybe the language didn’t quite flow. I say maybe because I tried reading it last spring and I don’t frankly remember all the nitty-gritty points of the book.

Did not convince me
If you are looking for a refreshing, objective viewpoint of the Catholic/Lutheran debate, keep searching ... too much Roman Catholic baggage in this one, shown first and foremost by his labeling Lutheranism as "innovative" and then he accuses his opponents of "cherry picking" certain teachings of the church fathers which he then goes on to do himself, cherry pick a few writings, pulling out of context, ignoring other sections of the writings (and failing to present the full argument), to try to prove his side. Major conflation of justification and sanctification, which is typical of most Romanists. Didn't convince this objective reader at all, but I guess that's because I'm not a partisan attempting to validate my beliefs.
