Definitely NOT what was advertised but still worth considering...
The comments here are generally true. As a huge fan of both NIN and Bowie, and also an audiophile, I can tell you the performance is very good and yes the sound is "bootleg-like," it does seem to be a radio broadcast recording from the board as someone suggested. For being a "bootleg" I think the sound quality is actually pretty decent. What I'm most upset about is what everyone has mentioned - several tracks listed on Amazon are NOT on the disc - 6 songs to be exact are missing (the last 6) and "Terrible Lie" is actually "We Prick You," so 7 songs are wrong total. Someone else listed the actual song list here so I will not repeat that. What IS here is pretty satisfying if you are strong NIN/Bowie fan. Since I also attended this tour live - this is especially cool for me to hear. I agree there is a bit of bait and switch, and given the higher cost, whether it's worth it is up to you.....

Careful!
This 1995 Radio Broadcast of the Nine Inch Nails/Bowie tour was set for release before David's passing, so this isn't a last minutes rip off CD, but most likely a rip off to take advantage of the new Bowie release. But what you get is the first two songs by Bowie and his band, and the last two songs by Bowie and the middle of the disk is the majority of a NIN show. They do not perform together on this disk. So if you are looking for a collectible rarity song, this isn't it. And the merging of these two amazing talents really wasn't that great of an idea, as their styles are so different. At the end you go from Head Like a Hole, into Joe the Lion. Huh? Decent recording considering it was done for radio. About 1/2 way through his set Trent proceeds to smash the microphone onto the stage, and for the rest of his part of the show the microphone sounds very wonky.

Not a great bootleg.
I'm a huge nin fan and have started back in the collecting mode picking up bootlegs, vinyl, picture discs etc. I saw this and even with the mixed reviews decided to get it purely due to its cheap price at $5 ( and being a huge nin/Bowie fan) I'm no audiophile and really enjoy live recordings whether bootleg or official. I like the imperfections. This recording is not just imperfect though but very low in volume. It's just not the greatest bootleg out there. You really have to crank that volume dial to hear anything. Not worth any price above $5 in my opinion.

A Studio Recording it is Not, But Great for What it is...A Live Radio Broadcast Recording
The track listing that Amazon gave upon pre-order was indeed different from what I actually received. However, that wasn't too big a deal for me as I was just interested in hearing the live recording in general. As other reviewers have said, the sound definitely isn't studio quality. I personally find that acceptable, though, as I knew going into this that it was a radio broadcast. The quality is good enough that I enjoyed listening and will enjoy listening to it again and again. I think the only real disappointment for me is that I was hoping to hear at least a track or two with Trent and Bowie singing together. This recording unfortunately does not have this. Or if it does, it is minor back up singing for each other. Overall, I think it is a nice addition to a music collection of someone that is a fan of this amazing musical pairing.

Buyer Beware--This is a bootleg concert with incorrect track listing
As others have pointed out the tracks advertised are not what are actually on the CD. Very disappointed as I was looking forward to hearing Scary Monsters and Hallo Spaceboy. The recording is okay for a bootleg, but on the NIN songs Bowie is barely heard (if he is even there at all).In case you missed from other reviews here is the track listing: 1. We Prick You 2. Outside 3. March of the Pigs 4. The Becoming 5. Sanctified 6. Piggy 7. Burn 8. Closer 9. Wish 10. Give Up 11. Down in It 12. Eraser 13. Joe the Lion 14. A Small Plot of Land 15. Nite FlightsIf the track listing was as advertised I would keep this, but as is I am returning it.

An important historical contribution to the Bowie/NIN era.
This is not a bootleg, as other people have tried to state. I am unsure as to why the tracklisting is different, but when I preordered I looked for "Hallo Spaceboy" (which is a favorite). It wasn't listed previous as it is currently but the "Outside" album was the Bowie album of my youth and I collect that particular era (though I do have a love for Bowie in every era - esp Thin White Duke/Berlin) more than any other. This is an official soundboard radio recording. If any of you have the Bowie at the Beeb set, you'll notice a lot of the same sounds and breaks. They are playing live to the station that is broadcasting, so there will always be mistakes and it won't sound commercial, and it shouldn't, because it's a different way of listening to music and it's an historical commodity that's been made available legally. I have a soundboard (a real bootleg) of the St. Louis Outside tour, and I was there for that concert. It sounds nothing like this recording - this is far more accessible and clear to the listener. I hear Bowie just fine on this CD and I am happy that it takes me back to the best place I went when I was 15 - the Outside Tour.Personally I view this recording as a slice of history at a very pivotal point in Bowie's reemergence into serious music and Reznor's rise to rightfully claim his place as an outstanding artist, and the influences and respect these two men had for each other. If a soundboard recording is not your thing, that's fine, but don't call it a bootleg when it isn't. Amazon should change the tracklisting to match the disc's (which is listed on the back). I don't know why Amazon made this mistake but don't blame it on the recording, and complain to them instead.

Not what it could have been
I purchased this CD following David Bowie's death- Bowie and Trent Reznor, what could possibly go wrong? Well, it's a radio broadcast and the sound quality is not too good. It sounds a bit washed out. Also, sharing the performance didn't produce the sparks it should have. Mixing in parts of Bowie's Outside album with Nine Inch Nails material was unsatisfying. They tried to make it a concept concert and, to me, it didn't quite work. If you want to buy this as a tribute to the wonderful career of David Bowie, get Earthling instead.

etc) None of the amazing Bowie songs listed at the time i ordered it ...
As everybody before me has indicated, this is not "as advertised" The sound quality is unacceptable. I ordered this because it originally had listed the tracks as part NIN & part Bowie (Hallo Space Boy, Scary Monsters, etc) None of the amazing Bowie songs listed at the time i ordered it are actually on this CD. I went back as fast as i received it. STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT ORDER THIS. I'm really disappointed Amazon is allowing this cd to continue being sold especially since the quality is terrible and the track listing is misleading.

Recyclage opportuniste
