yes - the height is the entire stake including the point - i put them about 3 inches into the ground

Without pulling the fence from each other, there is almost no space in between; if pulling it, then the space is about 1/4 ". Thanks. Ted

If you spray the fence with clear paint, then it might help. Thanks. Ted

It hasn't but the finish has faded a lot.
