A quick, fun game (unless you play my wife)
I loved the game but then I hated the game. It was easy to learn for other myself and my children, however I should have know something was up when my wife didn't need to read the directions. The first game seemed evenly matched but later when I played against my wife I realized that she was secretly hiding the fact that she was a Revesi Ninja. She taunted me with statements such as "Now you know what Bobby Fisher's opponents felt like!" and "That's a great move...for me!" While I see myself playing this game against my children (who I still have a chance at beating) I don't think I will play against my wife. The box seemed a bit thin compared to the other games on my shelf and the game itself is made of a thinner plastic. I am not sure that the plastic will stand up to me repeatedly flipping the board when I lose. There are enough black and white sided pieces to fill each spot on the board, but no extras to replace the ones that will inevitably be lost as the game goes flying through the air in my loss-filled rage.Game time is short, about 10-20 minutes, unless you play against my wife who will mop the board with her opponents until they weep for mercy.(I think she cheats. I just haven't figured out how.)This is a great game to get the kids thinking about strategy without to many rules to make it complicated.Enjoy your gaming (unless you play against my wife, then I already feel sorry for you)

Good implementation of the game I call othello
Silly the number of names there are for this game. I personally know it as "Othello." It's a classic and fun game. Takes some good thinking. Actually there's enough thinking that I'm sure with some practice you could become genuinely good at it and ever lose against less skilled players. Kind of like chess. It's a neat game and a fun one, though for pure fun at home, I think games that have some chance built in are a bit better---they don't make you or your partner feel as bad for losing.OK so how about this particular set? The board is pretty lightweight but functional. The pieces are decent quality. They stay in their places well and are easy to turn over. They stay put in their holders very well, making for easy storage. Not much to dislike in this game. I suppose there are versions of this with heavier boards and pieces, but then they wouldn't have been as cheap. And really, how often do you play a game like this?Good product, overall.

Ridges keep the pieces in place; perfect for playing with children
This is a perfect game for playing with the grandkids. Even the youngest ones catch on to the rules quickly; strategy comes later and grows with the child's abilities. The game is well made. The playing surface has ridges so the pieces don't slide around, a feature that is really nice when playing with 'energetic' opponents or on uneven surfaces. The playing pieces themselves are concave so they are easy to grasp when you're flipping them over. The pieces are stored on the tray and two plastic caps snap over them to keep them from spilling out into the box when it's stored on its side. Of course this game is NOT just a child's game. "It takes minutes to learn but a lifetime to master." Just saying, the grandkids love it too, and it's something I enjoy playing with them. Good, well-made product; I highly recommend.

1 piece split, but otherwise great
I wanted my kids to learn another board game, and I've always liked Othello / Reversi.I gave this to my 7yo for his birthday, and I'd say he's close to the minimum age for this. I have to remind them to keep one finger on the piece they just placed, so that they can flip only the most-recently trapped pieces, and not get confused when they start flipping. The grid is nice for their ages, to avoid knocking pieces around.I'm docking a star because 1 piece has broken into 2; 1 white, 1 black.

Great game with big pieces and board
I grew up with the game Othello and I wanted to get one for my kids. I was disappointed to see that most of the "reversi" games are very small in size. I wanted a nice full size version. This version is great with pieces a little smaller than a US quarter. I highly recommend this game because of the large pieces and board. It is great for playing at home, but not ideal for travel.

Good value, but slippery pieces, and no extras.
This is a great game. This set is a decent value. My only complaints are that you are given exactly 64 pieces, so you can't lose even one... would it have really cost that much more to throw in a couple extra? More importantly: these pieces are SLIPPERY AS HELL. You really have to be careful when grabbing a stack to put in the trays on either side of the board, because they can go flying... and, as mentioned, you have NO extras. Still, everything is decent quality, and this is a fun game for a reasonable price.

So fun!
This game is the best! I bought it for my boyfriend as a birthday gift after one very intensely competitive weekend spent playing Reversi at a relative's house. Strategy based, but very simple and easy to learn. The product itself is great quality. The plastic board is very sturdy and the chips are well made. The inclusion of a plastic cover for the chip storage area is very nice and convenient! 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

The storage cover is great
Cheap but good enough. The storage cover is the best part. No lost pieces and don’t need to keep it in the original box.
