Perfect container for coffee beans! Stay fresh!
Tightpac America has created an amazing vacuum sealed container which happens to be the perfect home for coffee beans! I absolutely love this thing, as you simply push in the button on the lid and hold it down to remove the lid from the base, and when you do, you can actually hear the air being released every time! Same thing happens when you put the lid back on the base, so I know this baby is working like a charm. I will probably be buying more of these great containers in the future, especially since they come in a variety of sizes and color schemes. These would make the perfect gift for any coffee fanatic or anyone who loves fresh food, coffee, herbs, etc. This is the complete package folks.

My fav canister of all time only one size up -- i like the 2 lb!
These are awesome totally wonderful functioning canisters that keep the air out and ease for going in and out to get resource. They work for just about everything you could imagine. They are truly solid, clean easily and do hold the air out and the food in. I use them for tea and love them.... only I settled on the 2 lb size for most of my storables and dry foods such as tea, rice, noodles... have fun and they are really beautiful aren't they? I think they add to my counter design and match my kitchen curtains.

Vacuum Coffee Canister
These work as advertised. I store whole beans in one and ground beans in a different one. You will get that fresh roasted smell each time you open the container. Worth the investment. The dark color seems to aid in keeping beans fresh.

Good product but a bit misleading
I actually really like the look of it and when closing it it appears to create a pretty airtight fit.Two things come across as a bit misleading though;a) There is in no way a vacuum created or maintained, andb) I can not see how it will allow for gases to escape.Apart from that it's a neat looking container that appears to create a airtight space for my coffee beans. Will use it for some time now to see how it makes my beans smell and taste :)

A Tip to Owners
Very fine item- effective, well designed, easy to use and attractive. Suggestion to owners: Do NOT pour the coffee grounds into your Coffeevac . Rather, place the new foil bag ( usually 12 oz size) of coffee into the unit- because: (1) Added freshness protection- without added cost (2) when contents near empty it is easier to scoop out grounds from foil bag and ( 3) if you like to rotate your brand or level of roast-- keeping the grounds in the bag will remind you of exactly what type you are currently using.Works for me!

Beware! The flavor of ground and/or whole bean coffee spoils quickly. About two weeks in my experience.
It does not vent CO2!There is not an (absolutely) airtight seal (though it's close enough). Others have stated this (I'm not sure why I didn't take notice). The lid has a snug interference fit with the canister (meaning they just slide together). There is a button in the lid you need to press to allow the lid to slide on or off, but much of the air in the can is still in there and, of course, gets refreshed every time you open it. It doesn't get vacuumed out when you close it (which is the impression you get). The button merely allows some of the volume of air in the container out as you close it. The remaining air aids CO2 spoilage. So you might just as well use a screw or snap on lid. It's just a jar with a fancy lid.I was looking for good coffee bean storage, but this isn't it - you're probably better off just using the valved bags the beans come in as you can squeeze excess air out of them. If you put 1/2 pound of coffee in this jar there is still half a container of air in there helping your coffee age. Even if you fill it there is still air (and therefore oxygen) in there around the beans with no way to vent. There is no way for excess CO2 to escape - in my experience the 'vent' only vents when you push the button. The container keeps air out and CO2 in. I've had better experience using vacuum bags and storing them in the freezer or refrigerator. Yes, vacuum bags keep the gases in, but there is no air (oxygen) to aid spoilage.Having said that it is still a handy, durable container. I would return them except it would cost too much. They may function as my pasta storage units. I hate wasting money. If you consume 2lbs. or more of coffee in two weeks or less-have at it.

It Works!
We roast our own coffee and use Tightvac Coffeevacs for storing whole beans. Most of the critical comments about the Coffeevac -- no matter which size or color -- on Amazon seem to represent a misunderstanding about how coffee stales. The Coffeevac does not create much of a vacuum, just enough to seal the lid to the canister. But a vacuum doesn't do much in the way of keeping coffee fresh. The Coffeevac's one way valve, only operates when the lid is closing. Afterwards, the canister is sealed and will not release gas. However, the gas released by coffee is carbon-dioxide which does not cause coffee to stale. It's true the Coffeevac is made out of plastic, not stainless, or magic unobtanium. However the Coffeevac is reasonably priced and works as well or better than anything else at any price.Unfortunately, it does not come in red. Red would be nice. The Coffeevac will slow bean staling by about 3X - 4X compared to hopper or ordinary coffee jar storage. How you brew makes a difference in terms of how you'll perceive both resting and freshness. For espresso use we find that gives us an ideal rested/freshness window of 8 - 21 days ish post-roast. Beans roasted for non-espresso stabilize and stale quicker; and their window is 3 - 14 days ish.If you want to hold your beans at "peak freshness" for longer periods, you'll need to do some careful freezing.

Check the bottom of the brown ones for cracks.
I love these containers for my husband's coffee, my coffee and my cocoa. I ordered three of them and two of them arrived cracked right across the bottom. The shipping box was not damaged but the containers were. I sent one back and they sent me another one and the top didn't work correctly and I thought somehow the cocoa was making it stick. The I discovered that the second brown one was cracked too. The green and blue were fine but watch out for the brown ones. Check the bottom thoroughly for a hidden crack and if starts to stick then you know it is because of the pressure changing because of the crack in the bottom.

One word review? Deal
Much less expensive than similar coffee canisters claiming the ability to keep coffee fresh. A lower-cost (note I did not say cheap as the product is not complex) alternative to other items offering similar functionality. In summary , , , not as fancy but IMHO appears to provide the same level of functionality as items 2x the price.

Awesome as a possum!
These things are great. Love hearing that whoosh sound as you put the lid on or pull it off. Only downside is they're a bit slippery and the plastic is brittle enough that if you dropped it on the floor it would likely crack or break. Still, great value for the money. I have a black one for regular coffee and the opaque brown one for my decaf.

Great container !
Initialy I ordered two of these canisters and was impressed by the quality of the container. I am a homeroaster and coffee needs degassing for a couple of days before you grind and drink it. These containers do the job perfectly. Never grind your coffee in advance, just grind what you need each time you make yourself a cup or a pot. I like them so much, I ordered a third one and got it today ! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Cheap, simple, and effective
Given how simply-designed these are I have no idea how they seal so well, but the seal is good enough that you can't put the lid on without holding down the vacuum-release button. They're very easy to clean and were significantly cheaper than some of the other purpose-built containers I looked at.
