A portable siphon pump
Needed a small portable siphon to clear fuel out of the many gasoline power things we all use these days: lawnmower, seedeater, etc. This is a great little tool, perfectly priced, with good build quality. It does what you expect and you can use it to drain the fuel fromyour motorcycle or riding mower ...no problem. Easy to use (one intake; one output), unbreakable (handy, I drop a lot of things) and effective. Great for small gas tanks. Not for use with vehicles that have really large gas tanks (like cars). Recommended.

Better than expected
After reading a lot of really negative reviews featuring this pump/siphon, or at least a picture that looked the same, I was nervous about this one. However, the unit seems to be of reasonably good quality. Hoses are not "permanently kinked", pump handle works smoothly. I did oil the plunger before using it and had no problems with sticking. I used it to siphon fuel out of my 20' Lund fishing boat and it did just fine. Filled a 5 gallon can in about 15 minutes or less. Conclusion; this vendor seems to be selling a better product than most of what is for sale. This was my third try, I threw two earlier units away (different style). They were so bad I didn't even bother to return them...

It Worked Perfectly!
For the $10 bucks, this is a great deal! I bought this pump for one sole purpose. I way over-filled the oil in my TDI engine and I needed to get the excess oil out. After calling some oil change places, it seemed that it would be easier to drain the excess oil if I had some sort of pump kit -- rather than driving to a jiffquick oil place and have them remove the skid and drain plug etc. just for a half quart of oil. When I found this little pump kit on Amazon, I figured for ten bucks, if only only works once, it's paid for itself. So, this pump kit could not have worked better. It comes with a length of skinny rubber tubing that you push down the oil dipstick tube. Then you attached the orange discharge hose to the bottom of the pump and the other end goes into a container -- whatever you have that will work. I didn't even warm up the engine/oil. I pumped it cold and it pumped the excess oil out of my engine without any leaks or slop. I pumped-out about 1/2 quart which got the oil level down to within normal operating range. (This is not the first time I've had an over-filled engine oil situation.) (Occasionally, the oil change places will over fill it way over the "MAX" mark.) I will be keeping this pump and accessories with my vehicle at all times. You just never know when you may need to transfer fuel or oil into or from another rig. (BTW, when pumping thicker fluids like motor oil, you need to push the pump down, then wait for a few seconds to allow the suction to draw the oil into the intake.)

Just okay.
The pump gets three stars because it technically does what it says it will. It does siphon the gas the way it describes. However, when we used it, it was rather hot and humid outside and it made it very difficult to coordinate holding the hoses and pump and actually pumping. The hoses tend to collapse even on gasoline. I suspect the hot weather had to do with that. We ended up swapping the hose with a rubber fuel line on the suction side and it performed much better. I believe it was a 5/6" line. Since it was a little more rigid, it was easier to use.I was also expecting to just pump a few times to get the flow going then being able to rest. This siphon does not work that way. The flow is only active while you are pumping. If you are transferring a large amount of liquid, I would try another siphon. We removed about 12-15 gallons and it was quite a bit of effort. Plus, every so often the outlet hose would pop out and spray gas everywhere. This meant wasted pumps and effort. This would probably work best during cooler weather and with a smaller amount of liquid.

For the price, it works fine.
So far I have transferred over 40 gallons with this during four separate times and I have not had a single issue with it. I was worried about it leaking out of the two ends but no issues thus far. I can understand why people say it is flimsy, but unless you are using every bit of possible force to pull and push the piston, yeah, you could have problems with it breaking. If you slowly pull it up and push it down, it WILL work exactly as it should and will not break immediately as some users have stated.

Piece . . . of . . . . junk!
As other reviews have said, if you are using it to transfer liquid, it leaks all over the place. This is particularly problematic if you are transferring gas or any other flammable liquid. Perhaps it is ok for air, but that's not why I bought it. Gas can must still sit higher than the container to which you are transferring, even with the pump. Once it gets going, it does transfer the liquid pretty quickly, unless you have to stop it to adjust for a leak or the hose coming out all together. Do not buy it!!!!

Handy light-duty tool to install tire ballast
I purchased this kit to transfer washer fluid into a lawn tractor tire. It worked quite well for that task. No issues with product function. The design provides a reasonable balance of speed and pressure for this task. All of the necessary parts for this task are included, which was really nice. This is not a serious tool for daily, long-term use. It suited my light-duty requirement perfectly though.
