Batman: Bad Blood Deluxe Edition (BD/DVD/UV)

~Definitely worth your Ka-Ching! & your Tick-Tick-Tock~
DC has once again released another delicacy for The Batman, this time expanding the roster of the family. I am vaguely familiar with Batwing and Batwoman, but their appearances here were woven into the fabric of the existing characters quite nicely for what DC & Warner Brothers started since Jason O'Mara began his tenure as Batman. The action borders on the edge of a PG-13 rating, and parents are appropriately cautioned about this. This seems to blend particular storylines in the Batman universe, especially when it is revealed who the initial protagonist is. It was enough of a "What?!" moment to make me want to investigate this further. Unless this is something new for the movie, you'll recognize the scene immediately. We are treated to a bit of a surprise at the end, enough of a surprise to tantalize the imagination. Mmmm hmmm. The Nightwing figure included with the Deluxe Edition stands at 4 inches tall. No part of him moves so he stands as is, on a base. However, the figure is sculpted nicely and for a few extra bucks, it is worth having.~No diggity, No doubt~

Great save for Talia's unexplained change of heart.
This movie probably would have worked great if the entire Damian trilogy had been done as a arc for a season in a series rather than a movie only because of Talia's change of personality. At the end of "Son of Batman" her parting seems completely amicable and she even tells Batman to make their son great. However, in this she has become deranged and loves neither Batman nor her son. It can be easily explained that by dying and being revived the Lazarus Pits caused her to go insane. That because she was revived so quickly she at first appeared fine but the madness claimed her later. This would make the most sense and probably could have been shown in a multi-episode event. Unfortunately the movie never offers that explanation and instead has the characters thinking she was always deranged from the start. Which does not fit with Talia taking a bullet for Damian in the first movie nor her decision to leave Damian with Bruce. Characters are not perfect so the characters thinking that would have been fine but a series arc could have shown her descent into madness that would have left the audiences knowing what actually happened and potentially have Bruce figuring it out after he had time to deprogram. We also could have gotten to know Batwoman better (her origin is a bit rushed since she was already established when we saw her in the beginning and had her origin told in the flashback). (And people need to get over the fact that Batwoman's a lesbian. And just for the record, Batgirl does appear at the very end of the movie so Batwoman and Batgirl are not the same person.) Batwing was handled as well as could be since this was his origin story.

Good Movie About the Bat Family
Another great Batman story. When I first saw a clip of the redhead flirting in a bar with another woman, I was upset because I thought the writers made Batgirl gay. Then I read through the comments, this was another character named Kate Kane/ Batwoman. This was the first time I heard of Batwoman. I was prepared to dislike this movie but I ended up liking it and watching it multiple times even though Kate's reasoning for becoming Batwoman was weak, it was still strong compared to the CW show where her sexuality is most important element about her. She is an unlikable character whose sexuality is constantly bought up but she is better written in this movie than in the live action show. I hate like in most movies they did Batgirl dirty and hardly give her any screen time. She has a cameo role in most movies. She is no longer Dick's love interest and has been sidelined for Starfire. The most screen time she has was in the cringeworthy scene of her love scene on the rooftop with her mentor Batman in The Killing Joke movie. But also, those were my disappointments with this movie. I love this movie allowed other members of the Batman family to shine like Damien Wayne as Robin, Dick Grayson as Nightwing, Kate Kane as Batwoman, and Luke Fox as Batwing taking up the slack when Batman goes Mia while investigating a crime and saving an ungrateful Batwoman in the process who questions whether Batman died in the explosion leading her to meet up with her old friend Dick Grayson who takes on the mantle of Batman so the criminals won't suspect Batman is missing.I loved Dick getting to take over as Batman as his rightful successor and the argument between him and Damien regarding Dick wanting to replace Batman. I loved how Damien drops everything to find his family. The brotherly love between Dick and Damien and their conflicted relationship with their father figure Bruce Wayne.Kate also has a great backstory and I loved her relationship with her father who knows her secrets identity. Luke Fox, a former US soldier and genius like his father Lucius Fox, wants to choose his own path separate from his father. But when the same people behind Batman's disappearance attacks his father, he is driven to join the fight. All connected to Dick in some way but driven to help others by Batman's example. This was a fun and touching movie with a strong theme in family and choosing one's destiny. I loved the Indiana Jones scene with Dick as Batman in the church scene. Another powerful scene was in the final act when Dick gets though to Bruce showing their bond and understanding of one another in their complicated relationship. Dick is a perfect balance of who Bruce could be if he allowed himself to have a life as Bruce Wayne while still being Batman and helping others. Oh and even Alfred was able to get in a little on the action.Awesome Batman movie. But the DVD is a different region from the USA. So unless your DVD player is for all regions, you will not be able to watch the movie.

Super cool!
