Works great for me
Edit: Almost 3 years later:I've owned this for almost 3 years now and it's still going strong. I've had no issues with it and it still functions as it should. This thing is easily worth the small price.Edit: Over a year later:I've now owned this for over a year and it's still going strong. I've never had to re-tighten any of the nuts and bolts and it still works just as good as when it was new.-----original review-----Despite some of the negative reviews I ordered this bar anyway. It took me about 10 minutes to put it together, without instructions. Those having trouble must be missing a few brain cells. The quality is good for the price. Not the greatest, but it holds my weight (180 lbs.) just fine, without feeling like it's going to come apart.Having the bar sitting in my doorway is great; Every time I walk by I do 4 chin ups. It's so convenient that you get a workout without thinking about it. It's motivated me to get back into the gym and I've already seen a nice improvement. Using it for deeper push ups is great too. After using it for a week you'll almost double regular push ups.

Six People, All Satisfied
I live in a dorm room with seven (7) other students all aged 18-22. Five (5) of us use the pull-up bar regularly for our workouts and even the other three (3) guys enjoy using the pull-up bar for fun. It usually stays in my closet where it is out of the way and when we want to work out we set it up on a door frame and go at it.We are all very satisfied because of the ease with which it is set up and taken down and put away. It is a strong bar and it has not slipped even once (which was a warning I got from multiple sources). Perhaps, that is because we have thick, metal door frames to prop the bar on.But we all love this pull-up bar a LOT more than we love doing pull-ups. Seriously, though, this thing works.

Lean Mean
Ive been using this bar now for 2 years, and have nothing better to do atm. Ive never had the bar fall off during a work out, and I do multiple sets of anywere between 20-30 pull ups. Your not supposed to use this product like its a set of monkey bars, your supposed to maintain control when doing pull ups and not pull up as fast and hard as you can, which may cause the bar to come off the door frame. Optimally this should not be possible, but the angle of this bar leaves it slightly tiltded when resting on a door frame ( example the wooden piece that sits above the door will always make an acute angle down about 20 degrees or so from 90 were it should be resting ). If you think about it for more than 5 sec however you come to the conclusion that this is because it makes the bar easy to fit on your door bcause you have to go up an over the frameing to secure it to the door, so short of an adjustable bar that can be shifted inward this is what your stuck with. I do think it would work better if the wooden support piece were shaped better as to fit in that tilted posistion I described, especially considering theres a grip strip down the middle of the upper wood piece that has never come into play, because its always angled away from the wall. It would fit perfetly on deeper door frames, but Ive only used it on my perfectly normal ones. * Note I use this bar on normal interior doorways as well as the smaller interior doorways more common for bathrooms, and it works either way, however in the smaller doorways the metal parts of the bar are in contact with the wood, which will cause some minor damage to the wood. Another more minor issue is that part of the grip padding no longer is stuck in place and moves freely on the bar, but other than that all the nuts and bolts are just fine and the bar is still sturdy. A few minor issues and the one more significant issue, which I would not categorize as major; lead me to rate this product as you see it, cuz it works! its sturdy! but dosent fit quit right...

Could use a little more work...
The Everlast Multi-Function chinning Bar looks like a pretty good idea, however it doesn't seem to hold on to the door frame correctly in any of the houses I've tried this in. Assembling was easy and the nuts, bolts, and washers held pretty well. The main problem has been that the bar seems to tilt at a 45 degree angle causing it to become unstable when lifting one self on it. Also this product is ill advised for those of us that are over a range of 180lb or more since it also causes the door frame to begin to buckle after heavy use. The bar as mentioned in other reviews has an abrasive sand paper pad stuck on there to grip the wall. If my bar would hang correctly on the door frames we've tried so far, it would have abraded the wall surfaces over the door. With the experience myself and my friends have had with since I bought it, It feels really unsafe to use and has on occasion slipped a few times which has led me to give it a low score. The only reason I had not given it a 2 star rating is that it might be designed for more modern architecture that may have heavier door frames and with the correct measurements may actually hang as it was meant to. Also if it did become safer to use it might not be so bad for people under a 200lb+ range of weight. But as for my experience, I'll just keep it tucked away until I can find a door frame I can hang it on or a person who wants it.

this works for some people
Basically, the problem with this unit is that you need the right doorframe and you have to be the right height as a person... Although the width of my doorframe was fine, the width of my walls were actually thin... So, what happens is that all that's holding you up is a 1/8 of an inch of wood, and if you that slips, down you go... Also, it creates considerable stress on the wall, and the paint started to crack after 6 pullups.. For me, in many ways, this product is an accident waiting to happen...If your walls are 8 to 9 inches thick, your door frame very strong and you are average height (no taller than 5'10"), then this could possibly work for you... I'm 6'5" and between all the other factors, this did not work for me at all, as a result, I returned it... It's an idea that's almost there, but not quite there yet...

Great purchase
I had the intention of purchasing a chinning bar, and I only picked this one up to get free super saver shipping (the bar was not my original purchase intent). Either way, the assembly took about 10 minutes. It would have been nice for the instructions to tell you to tighten the nuts and bolts with the included hex key and spanner, because I'm not sure everyone would realize this was a required step - the nuts are self-locking, and you can't tighten by hand.Outside of the initial assembly, unlike the product that ranks #1 in the chinning bar category on Amazon, the bolts that connect the metal bar and the wood bar together is countersunk, so it doesn't damage your door frame. Super easy to mount, you can use it for ab workouts on the floor as well.I feel like this bar makes my room into a jungle gym, easy to get some exercise in every now and then, keeps me active. Great purchase!

Excellent product let down by marketing
Like all flat pack furniture, a few teething problems with construction. We had no problem constructing this with the bolts provided, unlike some other reveiwers. We did struggle with this for a few hours because the product description failed to mention that a suitable tool to tighten the nuts was not included OR indicate what size of spanners would be needed to assembler the bar. Hoping that two of your standard spanners will put this together will not work, you need a 10 mm spanner & a set of draytons. Be aware there are two different size & shape of bolt & if they are put in the wrong place the bar will not assemble properly.

Use with care
Great chin bar but use with caution as it can slip from the door frame causing you to fall, i would recommend you fix a bracket for safety as falling from 6+ft onto your back does hurt i can tell you.

Awsome bar and sturdy make-up overall
Awsome bar and sturdy make-up overall. Thank you, now all I need to figure out is how to fix it to the wall because it does make some ''violin music'' while I pull-up against the frame of the door...what I mean is it makes squiky sounds when it rubs the frame, anyways good product!
