gDiapers Cloth Inserts, Size Medium/Large/X-Large (6 Count)

I have been using these for 2.5 months now. My 16 month old son is a heavy wetter, and these work great! We have 3 covers, 6 cloth inserts and 10 liners. Daily we use the 6 and usually use 2ish plain old disposables as well. We rinse liners and cloth inserts well with hot water in the tub immediately (if left set in tub a few hours no big deal), then leave them hang over the edge till night when I do laundry (I throw them in the washer right before I fill up the tub for bath, and wash the tub out before I put the stopper in). I find the liners are plenty clean that way, but if they get poop on them I will use a little hand soap (liners only!). I wash and dry the cloth inserts, and covers with all the other clothes, every night. We use arm&hammer either free and clear or the clear/green bottle and no dryer sheets or softeners. The diapers have held up just fine!! Still very absorbent. Just make sure all velcro is closed on itself (including bibs! lol). We also use kushies flushable liners (the kind on the roll), cut in half and positioned right they work great. Might still get a little poop on the side, but even the hubby agrees its no big deal. Wipe with some tp and flush away!Our trash is less, our trash stinks WAY less!!! This is totally worth the initial investment.We have still been using an overnight disposable diaper at night, but I believe I'm going to try using 2 cloth inserts and see how that does, this will mean buying another pack of inserts, and probably another cover which might just mean no disposables for us, period! WELL we do use them when we leave the house... haven't gone there yet. : )

I love gDiapers!! It is so bad they are apparently not very popular, as I can no longer find them at BuyBuy Baby and it is harder and harder to find them online (one of the reasons I got out of my way to write this review). They are expensive, but the best cloth diaper system I have tried (and I have tried many!). I think they are not that more expensive in the end, if you use clothes of course.Overall I think the greatest benefit of gDiaper is the ecological one. I do use regular diapers at night and do the disposable inserts when I leave the house for a long time, but for nature's sake, I feel less guilty to do cloth diapers as much as I can.The hemp/cotton inserts are the best and this is the only real breathable diaper I have found in the market (you can feel the outside is humid when it gets really wet). You definitely have to get over the fact they are bulky, but once you get used to wear 6-12 months pants on your 4 months old baby, they pay it back in summer when your baby can run around with nothing but that cute gPants.When my baby turned 2 months I started using 2 little inserts in a little gPants, as 1 alone would get wet too quickly (that's why it's bulky too). Then I also got the medium insert and used it folded in the little gPants (I have a boy, so the fold works great) until he was around 4 months. When he turned 4 months I got the medium gPants and use it with 1 medium + 1 small insert. I use to change them every 4 hours, but started doing it more often, every 2-3 hours, as my son's diaper area was getting very red and irritated (so I also started using the Weleda baby cream to avoid the urine to stick to his skin, what happens more likely with cloth diapers) At night I am still using regular diapers though because there is no way I can get the gDiaper to last through the night.. And sleeping is an important priority at this point!I am very happy with my personal system, which includes 5 medium gPants, 18 M/L inserts, 10 SM inserts (2 ended up in the garbage as my husband mixed them up with the disposable inserts we where using in the beginning) a couple of wet bags (although you can just use plastic bags) (I use the ones from Planet Wise) and cloth wipes (I like the flannel ones from OzoCozy), which I soak in water to wipe him (I just keep a bottle by the changing table). I don't soak the poopy diapers before washing and and find that the wet diaper takes good care of the smellA few of remarks:- I seriously started on G when my baby was 2 weeks old. Before it was more convenient to use regular diapers because of the umbilical cord and because I was so tired and crazy after birth.- I have to do the laundry every 3 or 4 days (which I have to do anyway with a baby at home)- They leaked a few times in the beginning, but I guess my husband and I just got proficient at placing the insert snuggly, so it never happened again (even when the inserts are very very soaked!!)- And just make sure you fasten the gPants velcro before you toss them in the laundry, as they get ruined if you don't. I guarantee you get used quickly =]- Last but not least important, No, my house does not smell like urine and poop

After using fold-able cotton cloths for 6 months I finally tried gCloths with our gDiapers. We had used disposable inserts occasionally, mostly for trips and at night since they are more absorbent. That gets expensive quick! We found that the gCloths (when washed 6 times) were much more absorbent than other cloths and they wash better. They are so much faster at laundry-folding time, since they're pre-sized. Possibly the best part - they are so soft, she loves them! I recommend them to anyone using gDiapers or any diaper cover. Of course buying them here saves you 20% off the price, that's the best I found for new ones.

We've been using gDiapers exclusively since our oldest was born almost three years ago. I started to resent them when she was around 18 months because they were leaking like crazy. Two things you need to know:1) The pouches (liners) must be replaced every 12 months. They're cheap. Not a big deal, but they have the potential to cause major leak problems if you don't know that. Once we did that, things got significantly better.2) You must find the right detergent to use with your cloth gDiaper inserts. Once we did, we were in cloth diaper HEAVEN. We started using Rockin' Green detergent with our diaper loads, and they worked okay. We would strip them using Dawn Blue Original dish soap, which worked well. But after one use, they stunk of ammonia again and were hardly absorbent. Then we found Funk Rock and *cue miraculous choir singing*. We stripped them by soaking them in Rockin' Green overnight and then soaking them in Funk Rock for an hour. Then we put them in the washing machine with Rockin' Green. They have never been better! We now just put a scoop of Funk Rock in the pre-wash while we wash with Rockin' Green and we are stripping them half as often and they don't smell and absorb like CHAMPS. I put one single cloth insert on each of my kids overnight and sushi roll it and they're good to go until morning.tl;dr version: Use them with Rockin' Green Classic and Funk Rock detergents and you will be in love with these diapers.
