Seems like a good program, very basic, the user interface is a bit rough. Needs work.
I am enjoying the program as a teaching tool, and since I'm a beginner I don't feel qualified to judge it's expertise. My issue is how the app flows - it's not intelligent. No provision for more than 1 student using it. Every time you start, it asks you to register (you can cancel & go on), then asks a question about how it's hooked up to a keyboard or acoustic piano. Next it starts a welcome video introducing your teacher, then starts at lesson 1 - every time.... It does not automatically pick up to where you left off, you have to manually go to menus and find that lesson/chapter. Nor does it give advice on how many times you should practice an exercise (based on your work) before going on to the next lesson, or keep track of your weak areas. If you look around the menus there is a progress chart that will show checkmarks where you've been, but no usable indication you passed, failed, need more work, or just visited the exercise. If you do not have a setup where your monitor or laptop is directly in front of you and your keyboard/piano, having to turn your head to watch a computer screen or small laptop to your side and keep your fingers in the right position on the piano keys can be a bit challenging for beginners. It would also be nice if there was a tablet version as well - the tablet could fit on the music stand.

Want to learn to play the piano? This is a great beginning.....
Purchased for my 8 yr. old. He has music lessons at school in which he is learning to read music and I wanted to expand on that basis. Setup took 1 minute and was ready to go! I walked through the chapters and they appear to have a very well thought out sequence (Chapter 1 - BLACK KEYS, using 2 and 3 row keys), Chapter 2 (WHITE KEYS). It has a virtual keyboard on the computer screen (click of the button) when want to see the virtual KB play back the lesson (it highlights the KB and the notes on in the lesson). It also has a video tutorial (click of the button) for each lesson/section/page of the chapter. I learned things in the 1st chapter that I never knew about playing the piano. Also, it has a great feedback feature (on/off option) that will score your playing and provide feedback as to what you did wrong.I will post an update after he has completed a couple of chapters........Thanks for reading.....

Great learning tool
It is amazing how this is teaching me how to play the piano. It is well put together and as I go through the steps I understand why I had to do the last step. I am using the MIDI, and it has really helped with my timing. I can really detect when you play to soon, late or wrong key. The only faults are there are a couple french songs but the songs helped with my timing. I only wished I purchased the Deluxe (This one and Level 2 together) instead of just this one. I was afraid I wouldn't stick with it but it makes so fun you want to get better, almost like a game.

Piano for Dummies; Not a dumb idea.
For Christmas, I bought this to go along with the electronic keyboard we have. It was the smart move to do. It's very informative and it makes learning the keyboard seem like a breeze, not to mention a blast. The videos are a major plus and the program is very user friednly. It even includes showing guitar chords so anyone who plays guitar can play along. I have other titles by the 'For Dummies' series (including 'Guitar for Dummies'), so I knew I couldn't go wrong getting this one. The whole family is pleased with this one.

I absolutely love this program!!! It makes learning easy and fun!!! Wish I'd known about this sooner!!!It's amazing how fast I'm learning to play actual songs!! In 33 days of lessons!!! I'm so motivated by the results, I've gone 12 days straight for 1 hour each day!!! I think I'm addicted!! But, it's a great addiction!!!

Big fan of Dummies products
But this software's presentation is a bit dated. Using Windows 7 so not sure if this affects display and distortion with full screen view. Content wise, much better than the lessons that come with the keyboard. Worth the price.

Simple and easy to follow for complete beginners
I bought this along with my first piano. After only 5 days of playing, I am confidently reading simple music staffs and a I am already playing with the left hand accompaniment.I am about half way through the lessons already (150 all told), so it will not last long which is a shame if I go at this rate but a great starter for anyone with little to no experience of piano and keyboard playing.

Not compatible with tablet.
Time to update your dinosaur software to be compatible with today's devices. Didn't even take out of case once I read it wasn't compatible.
