Mixed Emotions
A month ago I was in an Amish grocery store in NY and tried Turkish delight for the first time. It was incredible, and I knew I could never go without this treat again. But I didn’t know where to get it locally, so I turned to amazon (of course). I bought the small package of Marmara Turkish delight about 2 weeks ago and was so incredibly delighted by the size, flavor, texture.. they were amazing. Exactly like the homemade ones in NY! My only problem was that I didn’t have enough! So I went back to amazon and was excited to see there was a bigger box! This second box of rose Turkish delight is less than satisfactory. The pieces are hard, the powdered sugar (or cornstarch? I’m still not sure what that white stuff is) is caked on and not loose like the first package. The flavor is overwhelming (almost burns my tongue), and the pieces are much smaller.I don’t know if this is a fluke, considering how wonderful my first box was, or if I was sent an older box of sweets... either way, I’m disappointed.

Turkish Not Delight.
Let me first say that the shipping was spot-on. So I have no gripe with the shipper. I will definitely order from this person again. Now was that said, the Turkish Delight had some disappointment to it. The taste was great. I'd say it was one of the best tasting ones I've had. The problem I'm having is how many comes with it for $10. I feel like for $10 I get to few of the Delight. I've also uploaded a photo to show that one was even missing from the box that begin with before I even opened it. I would have given this product two stars if it wasn't for the taste. I got 14 and a half pieces of Turkish Delight. And if that's how much I large gives me, well then I'm sorry. I will not be buying this product again. There are cheaper ones out there that can definitely hold a candle to this product. But if I'm ever feeling in the mood to be a spoiled rich kid. Then I may buy me an author.

Yes, get this Turkish Delight if you've never tried Turkish Delight
This is the best Turkish Delight I've had on this side of the Atlantic. Mind you, it's been 10 years since I had a box from Harrod's, but I am pretty sure the Marmara is just as good if not better. Not only is the texture (firm but tender, NOT chewy) and flavor (perfumey but not sickly rose) WONDERFUL, but the small-bite size is absolutely perfect. Turkish Delight is a really sweet candy, so it's nice to have a little piece that doesn't overwhelm, and that is relatively neat to consume in spite of the confectioner's sugar that coats it.If this is your first Turkish Delight, you'll understand why Edmund was willing to sell out his siblings to get more.

Great Example of Turkish Delight
Back before Amazon carried everything imaginable and I had kids, I got curious about what Turkish delight was and ended up buying some from Turkey from an importer. It was terrific and very different from American candy. I’ve bought it a few times over the years. So this means I’m familiar with what Turkish delight is intended to be like. I don’t even know what got me thinking about it the other day, but it occurred to me it was time to introduce my kids to it. I ordered this and my son, having tried it, is ready to betray us all to a witch for more. My middle daughter didn’t like the rose flavor, but my youngest did. Overall, it was a hit. It matches up with my previous experience with Turkish delight and seems authentic. The price was amazing too, being less than I paid per box 15+ years ago from the importer. A bag might not be as fancy as a box with them all lined up in neat rows, but I’ll take the cost savings.

Check the expiry date
I looked forward to the arrival of this bulk package of Turkish Delight. Unfortunately, it arrived 3 months past its expiration date.Note that European dating is day-month-year. This package was marked as made 01/09/2020 and expiring 01/09/2021 — so made September 1, 2020 and expiring September 1, 2021. The print is small and clearly legible, but I overlooked that in my eagerness to open this for the family. The first cube out of the package was quite firm, but I took a small bite anyway. There was a rose taste, but overly artificial and unpleasant, and with a biting aftertaste. I ended up spitting it out and it took a while to remove the taste. And that’s when I looked more closely at the packaging and found the date.I am not sure whether the flavor had turned because it was past its expiration date, and whether that is why the cubes are super firm.Very disappointing, because I was looking forward to purchasing this regularly.

Not Bad, But Not Memorable Either; Heavy Powdered Sugar; Different Texture
Initial Thoughts:-nice packaging, but was a huge mess once opened and the lid doesn't stay closed. Powdered sugar was EVERYWHERE under the plastic.-counted 14 individual delights. Appearance of the treat itself was pleasant.-very different texture than other turkish delights. These are MUCH firmer, quite dry and very chewy. Unexpected, not unpleasant but was hoping for something else so was left a bit underwhelmed.-could not taste the flavor under the mountain of powdered sugar. Had to shake off / dust off most of it to eat it. Rose flavor was very light and enjoyable once I got past the sugar, but would have loved to taste more of it.-was a little sweet for me, could only eat one, but taped the box shut and kept the rest to try again later.General Conclusion:3/5 stars was generous for this treat. Absolutely NOT terrible, but definitely nothing special, didn't have me wanting more. The amount of powdered sugar was a little intense and the rose flavor fairly weak (I realize rose flavor is light to begin with but I've had rose turkish delight before and the flavor could definitely be better). The box itself and presentation is simple but pretty, but the second you up open the plastic the powder flies at you and it's a mess. The texture wasn't what I was looking forward to, but it wasn't BAD, it was just different. The seller is wonderful, my qualms are only with the product itself.I would not recommend this product to people based on taste, texture and packaging.
