Perfect substitute~
I did much research before changing my entire sleeping lifestyle from using western mattress & bed frame, to now a Japanese style bedding set. I have slept so wonderfully since buying this product! For so long I had terrible sleeping patterns and never having a fitful rest, my mattress was very old and worn, sinking to the middle from usage so I had zero posture support, would wake up tossing & turning never finding the right position to fall back asleep to, and back pain upon waking up.Since buying the 3 combo of wood frame, tatami mat, and futon (ALL TWIN SIZE), my sleep is very comfortable, even for a side sleeper such as myself! I was wary of that very problem I may face before making my decision, but the firmness is just what I needed! I only used a thick blanket I already had and used a fitted sheet to keep it in place to give it just a little bit of softness, but other than that, I sleep very well.Emoor is a great brand to try and have amazing customer service, just be aware of the different timezones in case a reply is prolonged, but they are very good at resolving any issues you may have with the products bought.I have also bought the Japanese tatami straw mat to go along with the frame to give my back support and to prevent putting direct weight on the pine wood slats themselves, including their Shikubuton mattress. All 3 items amounted to around 610 after taxes/shipping, which IMO is much more affordable and valuable for my wallet than buying a thousand dollar standard mattress SEPARATE from the accomanying frame which costs just as much, somtimes more.~~FEW IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER~~While the frame is very easy to assemble, PLEASE read the warnings and instructions carefully! Do NOT place weight directly on the slats even when it is complete. I weight around 130lbs, and even if you weigh lightly. I highly recommend buying the foldable tatami mat to insulate the weight placed on the wooden frame. The maximum limit is 440lbs as stated on the manual.Make sure that there are SIX legs attached to the bottom of the frame BEFORE turning it over, especially the legs that support the MIDDLE of the frame as it is the point of breakage should it be assembled the wrong way.NEVER skip a step on the assembly, and NEVER jump or throw yourself on the frame, even if it is wood, it's not a metal frame and should be handled with extra care when moving it around. If there is no one to assist you, gently lift the frame by the head/foot ends rather than the long ends and slowly shift it from side to side so that the middle portion stays in tact and you are not straining yourself to place it in different positions of your room. This is solid pine wood, it is heavy, so please be careful not to drop it from constant maneuvering. That's about all I have to say about this wonderful product; nothing out of place/missing pieces, or cheap wood materials, comes in a single box with everything included.~~~~I considered buying an actual folding futon frame, then a platform frame with storage, then a day bed frame, to even a couch that extends into a bed, but I am so glad I found this brand and settled on making this purchase.Just do your research and see if this is right for your sleeping style, you won't be disappinted!

Beautiful and natural
I purchased this bedframe because of its natural wood. I didn’t want anything that was made of a bunch of chemicals or harmful ingredients. I believe this frame is 100% Pinewood or whatever wood it’s made of. The bedframe is very sturdy and it’s beautiful and it didn’t have any strange smells. I tried using a traditional Japanese futon but it was too thin for me unfortunately so I put a normal American mattress on it and it still looks really nice. Putting it together took about an hour with help. The only complaint I have is that the bedframe is incredibly heavy. I am about 100 pounds and I’m 5 feet tall, and it was difficult sliding it into my apartment even though it was delivered to the front door , I wish it was shipped maybe 2 to 3 boxes just to make it easier to move. I also live on the third floor and I feel so terrible for the delivery man that had to carry it up three flights of steps. Maybe I’m just weak, but it was incredibly heavy. Even though it was heavy in its box it is fairly simple to reposition in my room.

Worth it
This item is sturdy, with a beautiful and timeless design. It arrived without damage which is honestly a miracle since it was heavy. I am not a big or strong person but I was able to put it together myself. Like many people said, the wood is gorgeous, matched my floor perfectly, and I couldn't help marveling at the unique patterns while assembling. The adjustable height legs are super convenient as well for things like storage underneath. I have been using this for a year and have no complaints so far. I keep looking at other frames for a DIY daybed but keep coming back to this one. Something to gatekeep!

Sturdy, stylish frame
Purchased for use with a thin tatami mat + shikibuton and it has not disappointed. The frame feels rock-solid with no movement or creaks, and provides good support with wide slats and narrow spaces between. It is worth paying close attention when assembling, as it is easy to assembly with the rails slightly offset so that the slats are at an angle and the headboards don’t align squarely. This is easy to remedy and alluded to, but not explained clearly, in the assembly instructions. Just take care that the slats are perpendicular to the rails before tightening up. My only suggestion for improvement would be to include a non-slip mat, as without one it is easy for a mat or mattress to slide on the smooth, finished wood.
