Bought for science mad grandsons 10th birthday. He was thrilled with it.

This was fun learning and I feel it was good value for money. Good variety of experiments, with great explanations in the booklet. One of the highlights was learning about light.

This “chemistry set” is a complete joke. I bought it as a Christmas present for an 8 year old and was lured in by the average 4.5 star rating. Now I’ve gone back and realised that not one of the high reviews considers the product at all. These reviews say things like 5 star, delivered on time. Great. Really helpful. Firstly let’s talk about the chemicals. There are a grand total of two chemicals in this box and each is genuinely around 1/4 of a teaspoonful. The box says “with lots of chemical substances” - since when was two “lots”? The litmus paper is about 3 centimetres long and you end up cutting it into 2mm strips to try to make it last. Secondly you’ve got a bunch of plastic test tubes and bottles. They are very badly made and the lids don’t fit properly. Finally to make up the £17.99 of value you’ve got a small leaflet with “150 experiments”. Many of these experiments are things like “fill the 50ml bottle with water and see how many of these bottles you need to pour into the 300ml bottle to fill it. Is that a chemistry experiment? I guess technically you are moving some H2O, but it’s not quite what the buyer had in mind is it? So please beware the meaningless reviews. I cannot think of anything worse that I’ve bought in recent memory. If you want to avoid disappointing your child then I’d suggest you avoid this joke of an item.
