Perfect starter rod … really think shaft (joke in there somewhere:)..) robust and sturdy and great for hound and medium to large shore fish species …. Recently caught 2 x 7lbs smooth hounds and it performed brilliantly strong enough to control the fight but sensitive enough to enjoy the fight … great value

They are a large rod, and the handle is thick but casts soft. Don't go thinking your gonna blast 6oz and a squid out 200yards but 100 yards and you'll be fine.

wasnt expecting much from this and to be honest when you receive it you will quickly know why you pay what you pay!this is not a precise, well made, quality rod which you will cherish and will last you a lifetime.what it is however is a solid rod you wont mind too much banging about in the sand and shingle and getting covered in lugworm juice and squid and being covered in salt water etcits very thick at the handle which might make it hard for people with smaller hands but it actually handles really nicely.Ive used it on several beach trips and its landed a 10lb smoothhound and several bass up 5lb as well as pouting and dab etcits not lightweight super strong beachcaster or spinner youll happily throw mackerel feathers out all day with but if you beach fish a few times a year, throw your kit in the shed and forget about it til next time then there really is no reason this rod wont fit your needs.

I have yet to put this rod to use, however, judging by the condition of it when received I'm not too confident on how long it will last. The rod has various damage and the bag was virtually rotten (pictured). This issue is becoming increasingly common with orders through Amazon. The returns process is painful so I may just tolerate it this time but will think twice about ordering through Amazon in the future.

Seems ok used it a couple of times, and when it seem ok used it at the weekend and top inner eye came off not be buying again
