Great steak knives
I was a bit embarrassed by our previous “steak knives”. They felt like dollar store special serrated knives with black plastic handles. We wanted something we would be happy for our guests to use without spending $100 per knife. (Our kitchen knives are Wusthof Ikon and those steak knives are ridiculously expensive.)These turned out to be just perfect. They match the style of the Ikons really well but are the right size and shape for anyone to use with a nice cut of meat. Actually, we just end up using them as regular kitchen knives sometimes as well because they’re so great. They are super sharp, not serrated, and they both look and feel really nice in the hand. Plus we could get eight for a very reasonable price. They are a big winner for our family!

Still going strong
I've had two sets of four (eight total) of these Avanta steak knives with the pakkawood handles for almost five years now. My regular kitchen knifes are a mix of Messermeister Meridian and San Moritz elite, Wusthof Classic, and Zwilling Pro, but I just couldn't bring myself to drop the dime on such expensive steak knives. I wanted something I didn't have to cringe every time a dinner guest scraped a plate, or my son dropped on the tile floor. These seemed to fit the bill. Still forged. still a generally decent German steel. Heavy in the hand but not too big. A good name. I liked them when I got them and I still like them.I've yet to have them professionally sharpened, but I'm sure they'd be more than happy to have it done when I get around to it. They still cut great, despite them not being terribly babied. I do hand wash and dry, and would never recommend putting them in the dishwasher, though I imagine you could if you were really that desperate. Some of the comments mention ill-fitting handles or sharper edges on the tangs. I've not experienced that at all. 8/8 knives all feel very premium and well made. I imagine if you start comparing them to $50 a piece steak knives they're not going to stack up all that well, but when does stuff like that ever work?I know it's far from Messermeister's premium offerings, but at the price, it still feels like a very nice steak knife. I recommend them and I'd buy them again.Oh. And how can anyone possibly imagine a knife costing less than $15 each is being made in Solingen? Especially when it says right in the description they're made in China. Come on people. Use some common sense. You can't not read the item description and then leave a bad review because you thought you were getting the bargain of a lifetime on something that isn't what this is. If you want the steak knife hand-forged in Germany, that's fine, but expect to pay a LOT more for them. These are good knives. They're made in China. Like just about everything else that you aren't paying a huge premium on. Get a grip.

Sharp
These knives are very attractive, very sharp and very sturdy..they are made of steel…there is no wood or plastic to break or deteriorate…and, they can cut almost anything….

Sharp smooth edge blades.
These are the nicest steak knives that I have found. Practically all the knives that I have found have serrated blades. These blades do not slice steaks cleanly. They tear and mangle the meat. These knives have a smooth, sharp edge that cuts cleanly. They have a good heavy weight and handles that feel good in the hand.I highly recommend them.

Cuts meat well; do not use for surgery
We replaced our semi-cheap serrated steak knives with these straight edge knives, and so far, they are MUCH better. They are not, however, scalpels. Nor really, should they be. The blades are even sharp enough for chuck steak and do a good job -- maybe as good as the very expensive knives, but I can't afford those. These will do very nicely. The grip is comfortable, though somewhat larger than expected. This actually turns out to be a good thing. The tang of the knife goes from the tip of the blade to the end of the handle (with a good looking cap at the bottom of the handle). This gives us great confidence in their durability. We chose the black handles, even though we thought the wooden ones were prettier. The black material is just going to hold up MUCH longer than wood. We have a wood block knife holder with a row for steak knives. These knives are maybe a half inch longer than the (probably standard) slots, but are actually fine sticking out a tad. We like them a lot, but if we win the lottery, we may try out the high-priced knives. These are such a reasonable price and exceed the quality of other knives at this price point. Oh, and they look very good in a table setting, a little elegant because of the end cap.

Great steak knives for everyday use
Great steak knives! Great length, great weight in hand and slice through steak, as well as any other meat smoothly.I recommend these steak knives. The stainless steel will go well with any dining decor.

Nice feel and work well.
I love these knives. They were very sharp and would cut through paper when new. I cannot seem to find a good sharpener to keep that sharp edge though. They still seem to cut well though.

Sharp, reasonable price. Don't stay on the plate well.
Excellent cutting for steaks, chops, similar things needing cutting. The handle is such that the knife will not readily stay on the side of the plate. Tends to slide off, including when you pick up a plate to move it to the kitchen. Possible foot or floor damage. So far so good, but a flatter handle might have been better.
