I am over the moon with this camera
I am very impressed with this camera. Pros: This camera makes me look nearly cinematic. it's like having a dslr. First. this camera is the only one in it's price range which supports USB 3.0 - this is critical for 4k at 30fps without massive lag. if you do experience lag, then plug it into a dedicated port instead of a usb hub. I love the massive control you have for the resolution range and the optical zoom. I work from home in my bedroom and i don't want my co-workers to see my room so I zoom right onto my face so the background is barely visible behind my shoulders. I then use blur background - though this wouldn't work for a wider angle lens because my wife often walks behind me and the closer cropped image reduces the risk of her being seen in a meeting. The clarity you can achieve with just 100ms or less of visual lag is great. its about as good as watching youtube with bluetooth headphones one. this thing is tiny. the camera body itself is full aluminum and is about 2x2x1 inches. I love how small it is. Cons. I wish this camera functioned better with lower light. with the aperture wide open I can't quite get it as bright as i would like it. The manual controls are way to sensitive - especially for the focus knob. the tiniest touch can pull focus a couple of feet. this becomes a huge issue if you ever need to zoom in because the focus will change with the zoom as well. overall - im super happy with it. buy it. seriously. you could use this webcam for tons of other purposes. this would be a killer security camera - it could even operate as a microscope for soldering SMD electronics if you use a tripod that could point down - since the focus point is about 2 feet away while using max zoom.

If you need a short focus, high resolution camera then you are in luck. Here it is.
Excellent specialty product. If you need a short focus, high resolution camera then you are in luck. Here it is. Package contains camera, USB cable A and adaptor, mounting screw and a rubber base, and instructions. Be aware that the OBS Studio that works well with this has a great deal of functionality and is not for the stupid.

A very serious piece of camera
Ok first things first.. This is one of the few cameras on the market which takes advantage of USB 3.0. It can do 4k, but make a note that it is going to use some cpu. For streamers, just use 1080p. It is the fastest, smoothest 30fps camera I have used. You do need to be aware that this is a manual focus camera. If you are walking around in your scene or not in a fixed position, a standard webcam may be better for you. The Logi 922c isn't even in the same league as this camera. Even the Brio doesn't come close. Obviously those cameras are going to offer more in ways of the camera and software doing all the fixing for you. If you know what you are doing with manual cameras though.. this is the one to get. Before I continue, let me say that I work exclusively with OBS on Win 10 20H2 for my setup. You will need to know how to manual adjust a camera. There are three adjustments for the included 5-50mm lens. Zoom, focus, and iris. Zoom and focus should be straightforward. Iris is how much light you are letting in. I read a few reviews about the camera appearing more blue than it should be. In a knee-jerk moment, I pre-emptively bought 2700k lights for my setup... Shoulda waited. At 2700k my image is very warm. 2800k-3000k lighting is going to be about the right light for this camera. White balance setting in the camera is manual and ranges from 2800k to 6000k. I did not need a crazy amount of light to get my imaged balanced. All of the settings are adjustable from the device properties in OBS. The included lens is slightly small for the imager so the image will have a little vignetting at the outside. I'd actually say this adds a lot of depth to the image and gives it a nice cinematic quality. The camera takes lenses with a CS mount. You can use C mount lenses as well but you will need a CS mount spacer / adapter to add some focal length. I have not tried any additional lenses yet. There are a few imperfections in the lens glass that can be seen with the lens all the way zoomed in and focused, but it is unnoticeable even at macro lengths. Image quality looks great from 5 feet all the way to 15 feet in my room. With the lens set for a target about 5 feet away, there is a nice dof at 10 feet away. I will be buying more of these to replace my other cameras.

Skip the rest, this one is best
I spent several hrs watching and reading video reviews of the most popular webcams like the c922, stream cam, pw515, etc... I was ALMOST going to settle for the best value of the imperfect webcams... The c922. But, I was looking around Amazon a little bit more and totally stumbled across this uc40m with the lens. At the time, it only had 24 reviews which is normally way outside my comfort zone for ordering something. I'd like a little more to go on. I found two video reviews online that atleast showed the video quality, and it looked better than anything else I've researched - so, I got it. Built-in mic? No, but if you use a Bluetooth headset like I do, this is not an issue. Autofocus? No, and it totally fine! Sitting at a desk doing "talking head" videos or web conferencing... Autofocus is no benefit anyway. Built-in stand? No, but I use a GoPro mount adapter. Or, find another that works with the mount thread. TIP: Rather than use OBS and have this be a virtual camera through OBS... Use a generic webcam settings program, and then use it as a regular camera option when I'm zoom, teams or skype. The video quality for the price is worth not having the above extras. I don't miss them at all... Because be honest, how much value do they really add? This camera is really good at being a... camera! And for desk work, demos, etc... For now, this is the best value for quality I've found. And I've looked for many hours, across many days. Solid build, great lens, great 4k quality, great value! I wouldn't have been so enthused with the c922. Of you absolutely NEED autofocus because you hold stuff up to show it off, maybe try the c922 or stream cam. Perhaps the Mokose with autofocus (uc40a) is good? Same as this one, but with AF. Otherwise, you won't miss the AF.

If you want a manual webcam in 4K, consider this one.
Its 4K 30fps and manual lens. Its also built well, probably aluminum metal of some sort. I like the fact that you can change Focal Length like a DSLR camera. Its a plug and play camera. The cons is that it doest come with any mount so you have to buy one yourself. It does come with a lengthy USB cable. It also can get a little grainy in dark light, which was to be expected (most webcams are, and the ones that arent are probably using a software). However, in a well lit room the quality is good. IDK why would anyone use a webcam in the dark in the first place anyways but ok lol. I wouldnt recommended this to people who like auto features but then again, imo, the camera is easy to learn.

Does not have continuous range of focus, and video lags behind what is normal
I really wanted to like this camera. We are streaming our church services and have a various blend of cameras (Logitech 920, Sony Handycam, Canon Vixia, etc.). We needed a fixed zoom camera for tighter shots on the speaker. It took me a while to rig this up. The focus varies with zoom setting (often having 2 sharp focal points which were touchy to find) and at some zoom settings, the unit may not focus at all. So it was a bit frustrating to set up. But we finally got a satisfactory zoom setting with crisp focus. We use OBS as our streaming software. We discovered that the sound was not anywhere close to synchronizing near the other cameras. The others needed a 350ms offset and this one was closer to 800ms. This much difference didn't work for us (hard to watch a half second delay between audio and video). So I returned the unit. If you just have one camera, or several of these cameras for a streaming setup, it may work, but if you have a blend of cameras and they process video at different speeds, this will probably not work for you for streaming. For industrial applications, it might be fine. It seems well built for its price point, and super compact for an adjustable zoom.

Physically a reliable item
I paid ~$79 for this thing when I bought it, and that's about what it's worth. That being said, it's well made, manual, has a full-close iris for privacy, has a built-in mic (though it's not that good) and above all, appears reliable in all 3 major desktop operating systems. It's even got a basic/standard camera mount. I've used it for both meetings and videography for almost 3 years now, and it's still kicking. However I've never been able to get that resolution from it. The best I've ever gotten from it was 1080p. It might do 4k, but that might require software and is likely upscaled. Functionally, it's solid. Price-wise, $100 is a bit too expensive for what you are getting.

great camera for the money
I got this to have a better image quality for recording webinars. I had to tweak the image a bit in OBS studio to get the color cast how I wanted it, but it was already good out of the box. I'm just picky. I bought what I thought was a nicer prime lens for it, but it turns out the stock varifocal lens was already very good and the expensive replacement was not much of an improvement. I don't think any lens upgrade is needed. The varifocal lens has some vignetting that I also tweaked out in OBS. The wide aperture of the lens gives a shallow depth of field, which looks nice but you have to stay still when using it as a webcam or you will quickly move out of the plane of focus. If you use bright lights, you can close down the aperture to get more depth of field. This fixes the issue, but the lights were annoying me so I just try to stay a fixed distance from the cam while recording. Due to the lack of autofocus and the tricky nature of focusing it on where you will be when you're done focusing it, combined with the shallow depth of field, it's not the easiest thing to use as a webcam. Once you get this worked out, the image quality is amazing. As a fixed cam for a non-moving subject or in a brightly lit setting where you can stop down, it would be hard to beat it at this price.
