As all other reviewers have said, the fit on these is very SMALL. I wear a 31 waist in Levi's 527's like clockwork, and a small in most underwear fits very well, but mediums are often just a tad bigger than I need around the waist. These trunks in a medium are as tight and small as they can be without being a problem on my tiny bum. I have thin legs, an athletic build, and these fit like a glove in the medium size. I normally prefer a small in something like this, but a small would have been unwearable. My thighs are approximately 22" in circumference where the bottom of the short hits, and the medium's fit me perfectly -- not too restrictive and not loose -- they stay put, but do not constrict. Given my 30-31" waist, that should give a good idea of who the medium's fit.A couple problems have arisen as I've gone to the pool a few times. The first is that one of the stripes has decided to start coming unstitched. The second is that the elastic waist band is free-floating in the top of the short, so it gets twisted occasionally and becomes difficult to fix. Otherwise, these are great -- they look good, feel good, and stay put while swimming at a slow/moderate pace.Also note, these are quite low-cut and don't leave much to the imagination -- they can be quite restrictive in the nether regions. If you're much bigger than the dimensions I noted above (30-31" waist and 22" circumference thighs), I might recommend the large size.

I typically wear baggy swim trunks, but these looked cute with the anchor (the product suggestion of a sailor cap when checking out was quite tempting).Order larger than you need, I'm a medium in typical USA sizes and sized up on this product. It fits quite well going with a larger size.These are great for beach/pool lounging and you can swim in them, but I wouldn't dive or do any serious swimming in them since they would most likely fall off. I've washed mine several times in water and with just a bit of soap and the color hasn't faded and the anchor/stripes haven't come off which pleasantly surprised me. One thing to note and that might turn off certain buyers is that there is a free-floating waistband... why this is the case is beyond me since it detracts from an otherwise great pair of swim trunks!

Having had one of these for a year and worn it at my local "show-off" beach I have to say that well, you get what you pay for. First of all, for this sort of suit with a cute design at this price point, why are you complaining?That said I do have to agree with the other reviews that criticized the poor stitch quality in the legs, I am fairly thin so I didn't notice the tight cuffing at the legs that others did, but I *did* find that the white highlight seams were coming loose after only a few wears/washes! Sort of ruins the effect when they're hanging off on the side, wouldn't you agree?Even before this, I noticed that the elastic waistband wasn't anchored anywhere and had the worst tendency of turning over inside the hem, causing an uncomfortable lump in the waist which is a no-no for such a "minimalist" suit as it breaks the whole effect and makes it look cheap!Anyhow, speaking of cheap, so am I. So I'll probably get another one with less elaborate finishing and hope it holds up better. It still beats paying $70 for Aussie.

If you're lucky, it will be great. If not, it will go to trash quickly.I bought 2 of them and the first one is really great. Fits perfectly, very comfortable and looks great!So, I ordered a second one after my first buy. The second is a little too small, and after only 2 washes, the elastic already start to broke. It will unfortunately go to trash soon.EDIT: I bought 2 more again and they both fit perfectly and last a lot longer than my trashed one. So, I got unlucky 1 time out of 4. For that price, I really recommend it.

Overall, I found these to be shorter in overall height and have shorter leg extensions than in the picture. I might be tempted to get a larger size, but they are already lacking in support enough to be only considered for lounging. There is no drawstring in the waistband.The deal-breaker for me is that the leg openings are rather tight on my muscular legs. The stylish little short leg portions of these would always flip up with minimal movement which looks dorky. I was always having to unroll/unfold them back down.In general, they are attractive and moderately flattering, but there are more flattering suits out there (on me, at least) when I consider these are only for lounging.

Too bad men can't get away with swim trunks like this because I got terrible chaffing last time I went to the beach from wearing stupid long swim trunks that got wet with salt and cause sores on my inner thighs that lasted for 2 weeks. These are the perfect solution and it won't matter to me what people think.

Fits well according to size chart, stylish. I wish there were other designs to choose from because I would order more! I love it!!!

The size chart is accurate on the waist but the thigh is soooo tight. It's so tight to a point that it is not easy to take it off and I'm a slim guy and don't have a muscular thigh but still very tight.

My boyfriend loves them, I purchased a sailor hat to go with them.
