and giving her reassurance about this basic element of life that had become tinged with uncertainty at best, and complete confus
I bought this for an elderly parent with mild but increasing dementia, to solve a problem with her taking her medication correctly. (A pill organizer with days of the week marked on it proved to be very helpful but insufficient: she had taken her Tuesday morning pills on Tuesday morning, and later that morning forgot that she took them and thought that it was Wednesday and then took the pills in the Wednesday compartment. Crossing out the day on her calendar after taking her morning pills that day didn't help: it confirmed that she took her Tuesday pills, but didn't prevent her from thinking it was the next day and needed to take the next day's pills.) I purchased clock this so that my mother would have something that displayed the day of the week. After looking online at different kinds of day-of-the-week clocks, I chose this one because the display -- the size, the font, the layout -- seemed significantly clearer than the others. Clarity and simplicity are important when conveying information to anyone suffering with dementia.Furthermore, this particular SVINZ model has a "part of the day" indicator (morning, afternoon, evening, night) that I thought might be helpful. In practice, I can't be sure yet if it is preventing my mother from taking her meds twice in one day -- it had happened only once or twice before, and not enough time has passed to be sure it's not happening now -- but independently of that, this clock has improved my mother's quality of life by letting her know where she is in the flow of the day and the week, and giving her reassurance about this basic element of life that had become tinged with uncertainty at best, and complete confusion at worst. The feature -- part of the day -- for which, almost on a whim, I had decided to spend a bit more, just in case it would be helpful to my mother, turned out to be something that she loves: when she wakes up after a nap and thinks it's the next morning, or wakes up at 4:00 am and thinks it's 6:30 am, she sees the part of the day displayed on the clock and corrects her error in judgement. (For a person without dementia seeing the time would be sufficient to tell them that, but for her seeing the part of the day spelled out, as it were, has made a difference.)A nice plus: there seems to be an internal battery, because when it had been unplugged for a few days and then plugged into the wall again, it had kept the correct time and date.We don't use the night-dimming feature for my mother, since it's not being kept in her bedroom. This cost more than I had been intending to spend, and more than I thought it should be (although to be fair, it's like a small computer screen, akin to a digital photo frame). But it has definitely been worth it. I expect it to be an important part of my mother's environment, until she reaches a further state of dementia. (Alzheimer's is a cruel disease.)

Almost Perfect Clock For My Needs. Works As Advertised
I recently ordered this clock and really love it. The display is large enough for people with mild to moderate vision problems. The color of the characters can be changed from white to yellow which is very helpful. I read somewhere that the best way to read/display signs are yellow letters with a black background. The yellow characters work best for me as the white characters sometimes look more blurry to me. My vision problems are very mild. The clock automatically dims the display from 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. which is very useful and considerate for people who might be using this clock as an alarm clock. I'm currently using it in the living room on a book shelf and have not used the alarm function as of yet.The only somewhat negative comment I can make is that I wish the provided power cord was longer. I originally purchased the clock with the intention of hanging it on the wall, but this would require the use of an extension cord and would appear unsightly. This does not warrant giving the clock anything less than five stars however as the clock does everything its supposed to do and well. If the somewhat short power cord is not a problem for you then I highly recommend this clock, especially for those who might confuse the time of day or forget the current day or date. It's all spelled out for us. You will have to adjust the time come daylight savings time as the clock doesn't perform that function automatically. The clock displayed all of the correct information once I plugged it in which the exception of the actual time. In short, a lot of positives and only one negative. Conclusion, Buy It if a short cord is not a problem.

True we needed to take the outer cover but the inside box was clear of all inscriptions and this made an excellent gift! She was
My hubby and I were looking for a Mother's Day gift for my mother in law who is soon to be 93 and came across several of these clocks. After going through them all, we settled for the Upgraded - Svinz Memory Loss Day Clock! Even though she has no memory loss, no dementia, etc, I felt that I don't always wake up knowing what day it is until I look at my phone or computer and this goes even while planning stuff. So, we felt it will be a big plus for Mama to just wake up and look at the clock, see the day "THURSDAY" inscribed, the time, "A.M." since she takes naps during the day so she doesn't think it is am when it is pm, the dimming at 7:00 pm, etc.. The big deal for me was the words dimentia , memory loss, etc not being inscribed on the box inside! I was concerned about that and so didn't ship it directly but to us so we could know how to remove what we didn't want her to see and rewrap the gift! True we needed to take the outer cover but the inside box was clear of all inscriptions and this made an excellent gift! She was very happy with it, cleared stuff from her computer desk and set the clock where she could see it at all times! Sister in law took pictures to make it a Christmas gift request? Anyway, I wanted one to hang on the wall but the cord or may put on my computer desk hutch! It would be best to make one with batteries! Thanks Svinz for just wonderful gift to give and also being understanding and sensitive to our senior citizens!
