Had a good twist
“People reveal as much by their silence as they do by what they say.”Why do I love Sandra Brown's books? Well, she's able to surprise me. Deadline has two great twists and I didn't see either coming. It's great when I'm so distracted by the story that I don't realize what is just in front of my eyes.So what's Deadline about?Dawson Scott is a well-known journalist. He recently has gotten back to the USA after covering the war in Afghanistan for almost a year. He went looking for a good story but instead, he came back with more demons he could stand. Alcohol and anti-anxiety drugs are his coping mechanisms. When his godfather asks him to cover a developing trial in Savannah, he wants to say no but his godfather, Gary Headly is also an FBI agent who's about to retire. Gary's career has been successful except for not being able to capture two of the most wanted fugitives: Carl Wingert and his lover Flora. The case in Savannah has ties to Carl Wingert and Dawson soon find himself traveling south. During said trial, he discovers he's attracted to the ex-wife of presumed-dead marine Jeremy Wesson. This complicates matters tremendously.Amelia Nolan has suffered enough. She has lost her father a few years back and her ex-husband Jeremy is dead too. It has been a year since his death and his children are still dealing with their loss. Currently, she's a witness in the trial of her ex-husband's murderer. She can't wait to put the trial behind her and move on with her life. Meeting Dawson, knowing he's a journalist, puts her on edge. As if that was not enough, weird things are happening around her beach house. She feels like someone is watching her. When she learns her life is in danger, she doesn't know if she can trust Dawson. What is he hiding?Deadline had plenty of suspense with great twists. It had great humor too. I was laughing at the viagra discussion. In addition, I was surprised it was heavy on the romance.Cliffhanger: No4/5 Fangs

Great Book
I listened to the Audible version of this book and absolutely loved it!I started reading Sandra Brown books within the last year, at the recommendation of a friend. So far, I have loved each and every one!True to Sandra Brown form, this book contains a "broken" male main character who is, of courses, tamed by the female protagonist. You can always guarantee that the male/female love interests in Ms. Brown's books stay true to character and always remain the "good guys." True to Ms. Brown's style, there is a romantic theme in this book, but I had an appreciation for the fact that the "romance scene" was kept to a minimum, as I often find these scenes in Brown's books to be ridiculous, unnecessary, and over the top. I do, however, have an appreciation for the romance theme in this book! It was perfect and not overdone. This book was a true "page turner;" I couldn't take my ear buds out! Sandra Brown always throws in a twist, and I would have NEVER guessed it. It was perfect! I also appreciate that Ms. Brown's books seem to end the way you'd like them to, neatly, precisely, and positively...with all loose ends tied up!

An excellent thriller by Sandra Brown
**An excellent romantic thriller by legendary author Sandra Brown who will not only have you captivated from the very first chapter but will have you gripping the very edge of your seat with a shocker of an ending!....... After arriving home from Afghanistan and dealing with post traumatic stress syndrome, journalist Dawson Scott was about to throw in the towel and walk away from his career forever. But when he received an urgent phone call from a very good source in the FBI not to mention being his godfather, agent Gary Headly Dawson didn't hesitate to tell his Dawson the whole truth. Fourty years ago, special agent Headly was fighting against one of the most deadliest terrorist groups and failed. Carl Wingert and Flora Stimel have never been caught, the case that ate him up alive. Now face-to-face with his godson, he needs a tremendous favor. Go to Georgia and cover a murder trial of a man who caught his wife in bed with another man who threw their bodies into a pen to be ravaged by dogs. Dawson refuses instantly until he hears that the victim in question was a Marine by the name of Jeremy Wesson, Carl and Flora's son. Wondering why he even agreed to do this, he is sitting patiently in the courtroom for the next witness to take the stand. As she slowly walked in, he was at a loss for words not only was she the most beautiful woman he has ever seen but he experienced something for the first time....love? Now with his mind made up, he was going to follow this story and keep close tabs on Amelia Nolan Wesson, take a beach house right next to hers and get to know this woman and her two children and most importanly, to get to know Amelia as well. As he befriends her, she tells him that she's been discovering items on her porch and has no idea whose doing it. Not long after, Amelia learns all about Dawson and what he is been up to and she is livid. However, with all that anger put aside, the inevitable happens. Dawson and Amelia are falling in love and he helped with the investigation by including his godfather needing his help. Working as a team, Dawson, Amelia and Gary try to figure out who wants Amelia dead, who's messing with her mind by leaving personal trinkets left on her porch, her power going out and threats made on her life but most importantly, somebody getting killed wearing her raincoat. False identity? With one thing happening after another, they will soon discover that this will become more dangerous than they ever imgagined. And for Dawson, he will soon learn about a very dark and sinister secret of his own,a secret that has been long over due and if he ever wants to be with the woman he loved, he must deal with all those skeletons he neatly tucked away in that precious closet ending in the most dangerous deadline of his entire career!....thank you♡♡

Easy, light reading
I enjoyed Deadline as light reading material. Other reviewers have complained that the characters were not particularly well developed and that the romance between two main characters did not have much chemistry. I agree to a certain degree but still found the book very readable. Definitely a light mystery rather than a deep, dark mystery but I thought it was a good read for that genre.

Great story!
Enjoy almost everything Sandra Brown writes and this was no exception. Lots of intrigue and lots of chemistry between the two leads. The only drawback I would say is that our heroine gives up her deepest thoughts to a journalist so quickly. How does she know she can trust him? Admittedly he is gorgeous and says that he is trustworthy, but too quick to jump in I think. Apart from that, no complaints. My kindle, a great story, great characters and Sandra Brown. A match made in Heaven!

Brilliant
I thought Lethal was the best ever and nothing could come close to it until Deadline, equally as good if not better.

Page turner
Definitely a page turner. I love a good story with a twist. Enthralling plot and good characters. Sexy in a way only women writers seem able to achieve. Excellent!
