I needed to replace a number of key tags that had fairly flimsy metal loops; the doors the keys open are pretty substantial and you end up putting a fair amount of pressure on the key and the whole assembly. At the same time, I didn't want really heavy duty hardware because folks keep these in a pocket. These are perfect for my need... very solid without feeling "industrial." Keep in mind that it would be tough to pull the marker card back out to change the notation; these are intended for more permanent use. Just what I was looking for!

I searched for these using "Heavy Duty" as my criteria. I had a drawer full of keys that I was trying to get organized. I've used the little round ones with the metal sleeve and found that they bend and are easily destroyed. I've also used other less expensive key holders and found that the plastic tag snapped or the key ring was flimsy. Knowing that I was going to need a lot of these and only wanted to do this project once, I spent the extra money for these. I do like them. The plastic sleeve seems quite heavy duty. The split ring is "normal". It's not too small or light weight, or some other gimicky cost saving crap that will have me buying a replacement in a year. The paper that came with them is light cardboard stock. There were extras so if I have to change them out, I'll have the ability to do that. I should have counted my keys before I ordered. Two 24's would have been better and cheaper. I still have a couple of keys that don't have these tags on them, and I will remedy that in a week or so. Very pleased with the purchase. The only thing one might care about is getting the cards out. I labeled them with numbers so that I can easily track them on a separate piece of paper. However, it does not look like it would be a simple matter to get the cardboard out with ease. Depending on your system, this could be a detriment. For me, it has been a selling point.

Got these in, took the little tabs that came with them, made up our own template in MS Word and we are off and running! A couple tips, we use card stock and print two pieces (front and back) which we put back to back with the fronts outward so it makes it look like it is printed on both sides of one piece of paper, it is just easier to line up that way. Pro tip : Getting the paper in and out of these is actually very easy. Bend open a paperclip and push paper from the key ring end. Take a razor blade or something very thin and flat and put the corner into the insertion slot and when you push with the paperclip you can guide the paper right out. Keep in mind we are using two pieces of card stock back to back and we can change them with ease this way.

These work great with one issue we have faced. The small ring with the opening allows the ring to slip through the opening. We remedied this by removing that ring and running the round ring through the tag itself.

We have a fleet of trucks for our business. Purchased a label maker and filled these key fobs with color coded labels for each truck... They are durable and just the right size to print the data on the label... Perfect solution to our lost key problems

Write on a tag and slip it into the narrow slot and it never comes out.Alternatively, use a label maker with a 1" wide tape and you've got very professional looking key tags.

They worked great for resident mailboxes.
