There is no warning on the bottle that permethrin is poisonous for cats (!)
I bought this product to treat our hiking clothing for a trip up to the highlands to prevent tick bites (fear of lyme disease). However, what I did not know is that permethrin is poisonous for cats! And it does not say so anywhere on that bottle, which I find grossly negligent. I found out accidentally when I looked for whether or not it's ok to spray the tent and then found millions of warnings even on the UK gov website. Seriously, I almost got a heart attack. Just sprayed my tent and hiking trousers drying away in the bathroom and had I not read that warning somewhere ELSE, my cat would happily have walked into the bathroom. The other day I sprayed our gaiters outside and let them hang there to dry with our cat outside in the garden. ADD A WARNING TO THE BOTTLE! Serious neglect, and hard to believe given the many cat owners out there.

Wish I'd used this earlier
Living in the South Downs area in Sussex I'm now the proud host to the Lyme disease bacterium due to a tick bite. I wasn't even aware of it - the most potent tick is the juvenile and likely to be no larger than a poppy seed. This means they're capable of making their way into shoes/boots, and through socks. So, if you're walking in woods, grassland, moorland, heathland etc, then buy this and then spray the shoes and boots of you and yours on a monthly basis. It's the easiest and most effective means of significantly improving your chances of avoiding any one of the three unpleasant diseases spread by ticks in this country.Just do it.EDIT: it also has another use for getting rid of spiders in the home. Now, I know spiders are harmless and beneficial, and really they don't bother me. However, the false widow seems to becoming prevalent where i live. They can give a bite which can turn nasty.

Seems to work well
This stuff seems to work well - during 3 months in India (having sprayed most of my clothes), I barely got any bites, whereas others I was with were eaten alive. Not sure if this is because of the clothing spray or because I religiously applied DEET twice a day! It was easy to apply, but make sure you allow enough time to do all your clothes as you must wait 2 hours for it to dry. I found 1 bottle covered 7 items of clothing (2 trousers, 2 long sleeved shirts, 2 t-shirts and 1 leggings).

Good for spraying trouser bottoms against ticks!
Bought this to spray on clothes, to protect from ticks. (Our neighbours were bitten by these things and and now have to live with the consequences...Lyme Disease. Make your own decision on what action to take.) Mainly sprayed trouser bottoms, shirt cuffs etc. Have sprayed several trousers now. Best to spray outdoors and let clothing dry for a couple of hours. May put a slight tidemark on lighter colours. But these are country walking/work clothes, so safety first!

Worked really well
Bought it for 10 week travel in SE Asia. Covered most of our outer clothes before we left UK and took a second bottle with us. Unnoticeable smell, no damage to any of our clothes or shoes, or any any surface we used this on.Used second bottle on both soft and hard surfaces in certain places we stayed where creepy crawlies where active. Lifesystems Ex4 Anti Mosquito Clothing Treatment also works on other surfaces rather than just clothes and it kills/repels more than just mosquitoes.Worked really well, no bites and activity of insects usually completely stopped in places we used it. Well worth the money, and brought peace of mind to a nervous sleeper when insects seem to be too active.

Harsh smell and skin rash from pants treated with this one!
I somehow managed to spray all bottle on my pants but it may be enough for two pairs if you economise. After all i got skin rash from my pants after several uses. Maybe a bottle was too much for one pair and it does stink quite a bit, could not imagine myself wearing treated clothes all the time.Hoverer, it works against ticks i tested it outside, some ticks would fall off in seconds some in minutes and few stayed on treated pants for 30 minutes moving very slowly or looked stagnated. Will try to wash my treated pants with detergent to reduce the harsh smell and wear underpants to avoid skin contact, this shall eliminate negative side effects of the product.

Worth buying.
I live in London and cannot go out for 10 secs without being bitten. I bought Lifesystems clothing treatment and it has helped stop the number of bites I receive. I have to wear socks and gloves, only get bitten now when I forget to cover up. It arrived on time and is well packaged. I respray my clothes after washing them.

Makes clothing smell musty/mouldy.
I bought the product because I do a lot of work in areas with high tick concentrations but I have no idea yet how effective this product is as I haven't been using it for long enough (tricky to prove a negative). However, be warned, this stuff STINKS. I live in as small flat and I've had to place all my outdoor clothing in the bathroom as it's the only room I don't use much and so don't notice the rather unpleasant musty/mouldy smell of my treated clothing. I have no idea how long I'll have to put up with the very pervasive smell, but it's already been a while so I doubt I'll be buying this particular product again once I've used up both bottles (wish I'd only bought one!). I'll add a further review once I've ascertained its efficacy against ticks.
