It appears (in the case of BMWs) that only BMW dealerships can update mileage-based vehicle servicing in the iDrive, as they don't permit other garages access to the software. MOTs, brake fluid/oil changes, 'vehicle check' are all permissible, but not, what you might call, full vehicle servicing. So if like me you have your older BMW serviced elsewhere, you can't have your vehicle servicing entered into the iDrive by the garage. This is where this service book comes in handy to retain, and prove, your car service history with the official garage stamp...useful in the event that you might wish to sell your car at some point. Book's a bit thin as far as contents are concerned, but sufficient to capture multiple18,000 mile or 2 year or whatever servicing frequencies you adhere to. For the price, nothing to complain about with this.

Well..... sorry BMW Owners, but if you do a bit of research on "how often should I change my oil" you will see that 15,000 miles for a bmw petrol turbo engine is a joke, so do yourself and future owners of your car a favour, and service it properly and record those services and receipts in this. The service record on BMW idrive is like asking a politician if they're telling the truth. The only people who benefit is BMW - the car has oil leaks, a reduced life span, and you've paid for the privilege- do us all a favour and keep receipts and a proper service record. The only downside is there aren't many pages, so if you do look after your car properly, you'll need a few of these
